$51,810.00 - $72,534.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Develops methods for data collection, analysis, and reporting for a department or school. Utilizes best practices. Analyzes and interprets data using statistical techniques. Identifies actionable insights and recommendations. Creates presentations and reports based on findings. Works directly with clients to identify analytical requirements as well as collect data requirements, analyze, determine technical issues, and design ad-hoc reports. Collects, analyzes and documents business requirements and translates into function and system requirement specifications. May guide other less experienced team membersResponsibilities GENERAL PURPOSE: The Data Analyst is responsible for developing dashboards and enhancing the reporting of construction projects managed by the Planning, Design, and Construction department. This position will develop methods for data collection, analysis, and reporting using Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and Excel. The reports and dashboards created will analyze and interpret data on construction project budgets, cash flow, project data and vendor performance. This role provides actionable insights and recommendations to University leadership to improve the management of construction projects. The Data Analyst will collaborate with Directors and Project Managers to identify data and reporting requirements. Additionally, the role will gather, analyze, and document business requirements, translating them into functional and system specifications. The Data Analyst may also guide and mentor less experienced team members. Other responsibilities include handling ad-hoc tasks related to software development and facilities reporting, as well as software integrations across various systems. The ideal candidate is based in the Rochester, NY area and is comfortable with an in-person or hybrid work environment. Remote work may be considered based on the candidate's experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: Construction Project Dashboard Creation & Reporting ┐ Design, build and maintain construction project dashboards for university leadership primarily in Tableau, Microsoft Power BI or Excel using large data sets either from Excel or from data on the University server. Data Collection, Validation and Integration Facilitate the collection and cleaning of large and complex data sets sourced from multiple data management systems (e.g., e-Builder, Workday). Optimize data collection strategies and streamline data extraction processes to improve data usability and accuracy. Collaborate with data stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure data completeness, validate data accuracy, and address data quality challenges across domains such as construction, finance, and personnel data. Integrate and consolidate data from multiple sources and systems, ensuring data synchronization and consistency across platforms, troubleshoot integration issues, and optimize workflows to improve data accessibility and usability. Department Operating Budget & HR Dashboard Creation & Reporting ┐ Design, build and maintain dashboards for department leadership primarily in Tableau, Microsoft Power BI or Excel using large data sets either from Excel or from data on the University server. This position will have access to private personnel data and will need to be able to manage private data. Data Visualization, Analysis and Reporting Design and develop interactive dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Excel. Present complex data in a clear and actionable format to inform decision-making processes, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and monitor operational metrics. Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, correlations, and actionable insights. Collaborate with stakeholders to define analytical requirements, deliver accurate reports, and provide strategic recommendations based on data-driven findings. Develop and maintain automated reporting solutions to ensure the timely delivery of accurate data to key stakeholders. Streamline reporting processes and data management techniques to enhance efficiency and scalability of data delivery mechanisms. IT Collaboration ┐ Work with the University central IT department to develop processes for data aggregation and maintain software system integrations. There are several software systems that this position will pull data from to create comprehensive dashboards. This position will create the processes to enabling this integration. Data Maintenance, Documentation and Trainings Maintain and update data management systems to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and reliability. Regularly perform data audits, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective measures to uphold data quality standards across relevant platforms and systems. Develop, maintain, and update detailed documentation for data processes and workflows. Ensure that all data-related practices are clearly documented to support consistency, compliance, and ease of knowledge transfer within the team. Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members and stakeholders to enhance their understanding and effective use of data tools, processes, and reporting platforms. Create user guides and provide ongoing support to ensure best practices and data literacy across the organization. Software development ┐ The Facilities department is looking to develop in-house software programs for better reporting and communication for the University. This position will assist on developing that software. If the person has sufficient programming skills, they may be asked to lead this software development. Software Development Support Assist in the design, development, and testing of in-house software applications by collaborating with software developers and technical teams. Provide coding support, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to code optimization and system enhancements. Report development for new Facilities Software ┐ Depending on the candidates experience, they may asked to assist in report creation for the new Enterprise Asset Management Software the University is rolling out. System Integration Support Provide support for the integration and configuration of new software systems with existing platforms. Work closely with IT teams and vendors to ensure seamless connectivity, data flow, and functionality between different systems and applications. Ad-hoc responsibilities as required ┐ The Facilities department is looking to develop in-house software programs for better reporting and communication for the University. This position will assist on developing that software. If the person has sufficient programming skills, they may be asked to lead this software development. Ad-hoc responsibilities as required Collaborate with various departments to fulfill ad hoc requests, providing data-driven support and insights on short notice. Ensure that all deliverables are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with organizational goals while balancing multiple priorities. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in statistical analysis, database management, or related studies and 3 years data analysis or customer resource management systems required. Bachelor┐s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in data analysis, with a proven track record of working with large datasets and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel required. Extensive experience with SQL, including data extraction, manipulation, and querying from various databases required Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain complex dashboards and automated reporting systems, improving data accessibility and supporting data-driven decision-making for institutional leadership required. Strong background in integrating and consolidating data from multiple sources and systems to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability required. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to address data quality challenges and support strategic initiatives required. Working experience in higher education is preferred. Advanced Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Finance, specifically construction finance preferred.
