Job Description
The role
This Role will lead our Data Governance stream, establishing the governance frameworks and structures in relation to the use and management of the Firm's data and information. This role will ensure relevant information and data principles and policies are in place that promote data as a business asset, whilst providing consistency, security, accountability and compliance with regulation and best practice.
Who you will work with
You will work closely with data management teams, business stakeholders, and IT professionals to establish and maintain data standards, policies, and processes.
What you will be responsible for
Operational Responsibilities
- Defining and managing the data governance framework and processes.
- Setting, communicating and enforcing data policies and principles to ensure appropriate management and use of the Firm's data.
- Establishing data ownership and ownership responsibilities.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Ensuring alignment of data governance initiatives with the firm's strategic objectives.
- Collaborating with business units, IT, legal, and compliance teams to promote data governance best practices.
What you will do
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to define and implement data management strategies, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Manage and enhance data governance processes, including chairing the Data Governance Committee.
- Ensure data owners and stewards have clearly defined responsibilities and provide any necessary guidance and support.
- Establish and promote the Enterprise Data Catalogue, working with data owners and stewards to accurately document the Firm's data assets.
- Identify data quality improvement opportunities and implement initiatives that will improve and monitor quality according to defined KPIs.
- Work with project and IT teams to ensure that data storage and processing is compliant with data regulation, identifying and mitigating data-related risks.
- Provide coaching, guidance and support to ensure adherence to data governance policies.
- Evaluate and recommend new data governance tools and technologies whilst ensuring that existing data governance tools effectively support data management activities.
Qualifications
Your experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Total of 12+ years of experience out of which at least of 5 years' experience in data governance, data management or a related role.
- Strong understanding of data management concepts, data governance frameworks, and data quality principles.
- Experience in communicating and delivering data governance programs.
- Strong understanding of data quality management concepts with experience in delivery advantageous.
- Experience with metadata management and data catalogue tools.
- Knowledge of data governance tools and technologies. Proficiency in Purview advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
