Peraton is seeking a Senior Data Project Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Herndon, VA with some remote work possible. The qualified applicant will be a part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA’s customers.
The Data Project Manager will oversee the successful planning, execution, and delivery of AI-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical teams, business stakeholders, and end-users, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals. The qualified candidate should also have strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Defines project objectives, scope, deliverables, timelines and resources.
- Monitors the development of AI models and systems, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines, industry standards and best practices.
- Assumes a technical leadership role for system and software delivery within the Agile Framework, collaborating with internal agile and shared services teams as well as teams within the customer organization.
- Collaborates with business leaders to understand requirements and build vertical AI based software solutions aligned to organizational goals.
- Reports / works closely with the Agile Development Senior Managers and oversees an agile team.
- Aligns team assignments with prioritized product backlogs and ensures customer priorities are addressed.
- Facilitates clear communication between technical teams, business units, and external vendors while fostering collaboration to ensure team alignment with project objectives.
- Identifies risks, creates mitigation strategies, and resolves project challenges proactively.
- Validates project outputs for accuracy, scalability, and relevance to business needs.
- Stays up to date on AI trends and to integrate innovative approaches.
- Ensures AI projects comply with US laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards defined by the customer organization.
- Addresses data privacy, security, and ethical concerns regarding AI implementation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years’ of experience.
- Degree or certification in information technology fields such as software development, database management, Machine Learning, AI.
- Project management experience, with a focus on cloud modernization, AI, Machine Learning (ML), or data-driven projects.
- Proven track record of managing projects from inception to completion within time and budget constraints.
- Knowledge of data governance and ethical AI frameworks.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have experience in communicating with all levels of executives.
- Active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience leading AI initiatives and evaluating AI capabilities.
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts, tools, and methodologies.
- Experience with Databricks, Synapse, Purview.
- Experience with Medallion Lakehouse Architecture.
- Experience with Azure AI solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with scrum project management, agile software development, and software version control management.
- In-depth knowledge of customer’s lifecycles, standards, and supporting processes and practices.
- Experience with multiple Agile teams in different organizations.
- Ability to understand technical legacy systems and associated component functionalities.
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt Certification.

Target Salary Range
