The AI for Science team has been focusing on tackling challenges in natural sciences, including biology, physics, and materials, with computational tools such as Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, High-throughput Computation. Our goal is to create breakthroughs in natural science with new methodology and help the world.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated Materials Science Research Scientist with a strong background in solid state physics and computational algorithms to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience of applying computational methods in the area of energy storage materials. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research that will shape the future of energy storage technologies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Ph.D. in Material Science, Applied Physics, or related fields.
- Coding skills: Experience with programming languages like Python or C++, and material science software.
- Domain knowledge: Strong understanding of solid state physics principles as applied to materials science. Proficiency in computational modeling techniques such as density functional theory and molecular dynamics.
- Publication Record: Proven track record of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a talent for independent research and innovation. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of solid state physics and computational modelling algorithms.
- Experience in adding new features or fixing bugs in existing solid physics software.
- Experience of machine learning force fields and molecular dynamics
- Experience of multiscale modelling algorithms
- Experience of working with density functional theory datasets such as materials project

Job Information

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $212800 - $389500 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
