Join The Hartford’s Enterprise Data Services organization with our talented Scrum team to help unlock Data Insights for the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO). We build solutions using Cloud technologies but source data from various environments. We are committed to the Agile delivery framework and are passionate about delivering business value through well architected innovative solutions.
As a Business Data Analyst, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. You’ll work closely with both groups to understand business requirements, translate them into actionable technical specifications, and ensure successful project execution. Your analytical skills, combined with an understanding of both business operations and technical processes, will play a critical role in delivering solutions that meet the needs of the organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Product Owner, customers and partner BI and data delivery teams across the enterprise to design and deliver data solutions. You will be part of a high performing and talented team who is charged with consolidating data across multiple domains, business segments and environments, delivering the broadest scope of line of business reporting in the enterpriser that includes drillable detail.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business teams to gather, analyze, and define business requirements for data-focused projects.
- Translate business needs into detailed technical requirements, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical execution.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, data engineers, and software developers to facilitate clear communication and efficient project delivery.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decision-making.
- Create documentation, including business requirements, technical specifications, and workflow diagrams, to ensure project clarity and alignment.
- Participate in project planning, timeline development, and resource allocation to support project goals.
- Assist in the testing and validation of solutions to confirm they meet business and technical requirements.
- Support change management efforts by helping business stakeholders understand new processes and tools introduced by data-driven solutions.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within a data-driven or tech-focused organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to gather and interpret data.
- Familiarity with data analytics, databases, and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, ThoughtSpot) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Agile or similar project management methodologies is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Candidates who live near one of our locations (Hartford, CT, Charlotte, NC, Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL) will have the expectation of working in office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$77,360 - $116,040The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
