Senior Software Engineer

• We embed quantitative models and applications to digitise financial data and business processes within highly critical platforms in the Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division of CBA!

• You are a quantitative developer/engineer or exceptional software engineer with a strong numerical or data analytics skillset in Python, and exposure to modern software engineering practice!

As a member of our nimble team of high-performing engineers, you are encouraged to lead as an owner and build robust solutions that deliver impactful outcomes to solve our customers’ most complex financial, operational and business problems.

Working with our stakeholders in the IB&M Institutional Lending, Pricing and ESG crew, you will implement applications, models and workflows for a range of products to reduce risks and streamline processes, and ultimately help scale the business.

We are interested in hearing from people who are

• Have solids hands on experience and expertise in numerical skills, quantitative methods

• Are knowledgeable of financial markets and/or corporate & institutional lending products is advantageous

• Proven hands-on experience with best-practice software engineering with a high level of software engineering knowledge and ability

• Are confident as a Quantitative Developer in delivering insights and analysis to improve financial and operational risk posture

• Pride themselves on their commercial focus to allow our business to maximise profitable growth and customer satisfaction outcomes

• An innate ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders from sales to technical leadership groups

• Continuously striving to learn new skills along with a positive ‘Can-do’ attitude

Tech Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team!

• Python

• Object oriented design

• Micro services and REST API schema and implementation

• Data science packages such as Pandas and Numpy

• Create database designs for both relational and NoSQL databases such as MSSQL, Oracle and Snowflake

• Git and branch-based development workflow

• CI/CD pipeline
