Position Overview

Are you driven to build better tools for the creative professionals who make the film, TV, and games that entertain and educate the world? Autodesk's Entertainment & Media Solutions (EMS) team is looking for a Senior Content Designer who'll work with our development teams who are leveraging AI to empower the artists using our content creation tools. As part of our Content Design team, you'll help drive product adoption and user satisfaction, collaborating closely with interaction designers and product development teams to make powerful technical workflows more approachable and learnable. Reporting to our Senior Manager, Experience Design, you'll craft engaging content and experiences that guide and support our users. You’ll work with a team to build product experiences that are easy to understand, learn, and use. This role requires general domain familiarity with 3D content creation workflows, knowledge or experience with generative AI and LLMs, plus exceptional content design skills.

You’ll be responsible for helping to modernize our content authoring tools, pipelines, and processes to help us leverage AI appropriately in reaching our product goals. You’ll also use your content design skills to support workflows in multiple products, including creating:

• UI labels and strings, in-product messaging

• in-product learning experiences powered by AI

• user-facing online help for artists

• documentation for technical directors/users

• video tutorial content and illustrations

This is a hybrid/remote role with preference for candidates in Canada, ideally based in Toronto or Montreal.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to understand user needs, context, and goals, and use that understanding to influence ease of use and learnability in product designs

• Leverage AI tools and establish processes that help us to derive insights from content analytics, user interactions, and other research to help inform content decisions

• Develop a user-centric content strategy to deliver quality learning materials within AI-powered interfaces and generative AI product contexts  

• Craft user interface text and in-product messaging that helps users to be successful using Autodesk products

• Distil complex subject matter into clear content, in various formats including documentation and video tutorials

• Apply and contribute to Autodesk and product voice standards and terminology across products to improve usability and consistency

• Apply design-thinking principles and user-centered design techniques to all projects, participate in or lead human-centered design workshops and other events

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field, such as technical writing, engineering, strategic communications, or product design

• 5+ years' experience developing high-quality content experiences for software applications

• Experience using assistive AI technology, generative AI, and/or using and training LLMs for chat interfaces

• Knowledge of using analytics and data to improve content

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a distributed, global team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Domain knowledge including use of Maya and/or 3ds Max software

• Experience in film/TV production, VFX, or related 3D content creation industry

• Strong skills and experience with design tools such as Figma

• Experience with GitHub and Markdown authoring, markup languages (such as HTML, XML, or DITA XML) and knowledge of various content management systems (CMS)
