You will lead a small team and leverage a dedicated tool to streamline and enforce the data governance framework, its processes and compliance.

  • Establish Data Ownership and Stewardship: Define and assign data ownership and stewardship roles within each data domain, ensuring clear lines of accountability and responsibility.
  • Implement Data Cataloging and Classification: Utilize the data governance tool to implement and maintain a robust data catalog, including defining metadata standards, classifying data, and identifying Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Drive Data Quality: Guide business units in using the data governance tool to achieve consistent data quality, implementing data quality rules, and monitoring data quality metrics.
  • Provide Training and Knowledge Transfer: Develop and deliver training programs to business users on data governance policies, procedures, and tool usage. Foster a data-driven culture and promote data literacy across the organization.
  • Ensure Tool Optimization: Advise on best practices and configurations within the data governance tool to maximize its effectiveness in supporting data governance processes.
  • Manage Data Governance Implementation Project Effectively: Manage the implementation, adapt to circumstances, track progress, manage risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Champion Change Management: Effectively manage change related to data governance initiatives, addressing concerns and resistance to ensure successful adoption and sustained compliance.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience in data governance, with a strong focus on implementing data governance frameworks and tools.
  • Tool Expertise: Hands-on experience with leading data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Unity Data Catalog), including configuration, customization, and using tools to enforce policies and manage workflows.
  • Data Standards and Policy Development: Strong understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices. Experience in developing and implementing data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Data Ownership and Stewardship: Experience in defining and assigning data ownership and stewardship roles, and working effectively with data stewards and data owners.
  • Data Cataloging and Classification: Experience with data cataloging and classification initiatives, including defining metadata standards, classifying data, and identifying critical data elements.
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer: Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging training programs on data governance topics.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across different business units.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, executing, and delivering data governance projects with defined timelines and milestones.
  • Change Management: Experience in managing change related to data governance initiatives, with the ability to overcome resistance and drive adoption.
