Director, Global Issues

Global Issues Team, Insikt Group, Recorded Future

This Role: The Global Issues team within the Insikt Group focuses on strategic geopolitics, influence operations, physical security, location-based risk, extremism, and terrorism. The Global Issues team is seeking a Director to lead a team of experienced threat intelligence analysts and managers conducting research and analysis across a range of topics in support of proactive research initiatives, product requirements, and responding to requests for information from Recorded Future customers.

Who you’ll work with: The Global Issues team is a multifaceted group of subject matter experts specializing in threat analysis on different topics and regions of the world. The team supports a variety of products, services, and initiatives for both internal stakeholders and clients. You will report directly to the Senior Director of Strategic Intelligence and will work closely with experienced intelligence analysts and other managers from across the Insikt Group. 

What you'll do: 

  • Manage a staff of intelligence analysts and mangers distributed globally producing current (daily) and strategic finished intelligence and servicing client requests for information with quick turnarounds and in the face of competing priorities.
  • Collaborate on research priorities as it pertains to global issues and guide report development.
  • Partner closely with internal Recorded Future departments to develop and improve the Geopolitical Intelligence offering: Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, Intelligence Services, Sales and Marketing. 
  • Project manage the Geopolitical Intelligence Module’s Country Risk feature, creating a thorough methodology to ensure accurate and timely updates. 
  • Ensure team output adheres to best practices, maintaining the highest quality. Senior and manager review finished intelligence products from across the Insikt Group. 
  • Establish and maintain metrics to measure team output and performance,
  • Hire, onboard, and develop Global Issues team members.
  • Represent Recorded Future at conferences, webinars, and engage with our clients through our Community outreach.  

What you'll bring (required):

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in International Relations, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, Security Studies, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Geopolitical Intelligence, Threat Intelligence, and/or Information Security
  • Subject matter expertise in OSINT, geopolitics, influence operations, cyber hybrid cyber warfare, physical security, extremism, and terrorism. 
  • Demonstrably excellent writing and presentation skills; ability to convey complex concepts.
  • Talent for working directly with customers to determine requirements and consultatively guiding them to the “best fit” solution.
  • Exemplary organizational and interpersonal skills that allow you to respond to shifting priorities, work calmly under pressure, resolve conflict, and facilitate creative problem solving.
  • Proven success as a leader with experience developing and mentoring managers to deliver results; ability to deliver day-to-day and maintain focus on long term growth and results.
  • Passion for working with people, service to others, and continual improvement. Adept at managing up, down and across.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and work as part of a globally distributed team.

Highly Desirable Skills/Experience (not required):

  • MA/MS or equivalent experience in International Relations, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, Security Studies, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field
  • Demonstrable experience with structured analytical techniques, the intelligence cycle, and intelligence writing techniques and methodologies
  • Scripting capabilities in Python (preferred) or other scripting language
  • Experience with AI/ML tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc.
  • Proficiency in a priority foreign language (emphasis on reading skills), such as Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, Russian, Farsi, and/or Arabic
