Job Summary: 

The Carbon & Energy Data Management Analyst will support our North American Sustainability Promotion initiatives by developing robust systems for tracking carbon emissions and energy use, with a focus on Scope 1, 2, and 3 data. This role ensures accurate data collection and analysis to guide carbon neutrality strategies including support for developing end to end carbon data tracking and management systems. This role will also support long term energy demand and supply forecasting including responsibility for managing emissions offset programs, including RECs, carbon credits, and related mitigation efforts.

This position can be based in Southfield, MI or Maryville, TN. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Energy Demand & Supply Forecasting: Oversee long-term energy demand and supply analysis for NA sites, ensuring accurate projections that support carbon neutrality goals.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Develop and implement workflows for efficient collection and integration of energy data from all NA facilities, streamlining internal and external reporting processes.
  • Carbon Data Mapping & Analysis: Lead efforts to map and gather carbon data from all Scope 3 categories, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the company’s carbon footprint and identifying opportunities for reduction.
  • Cross-Functional Outreach & Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams and leadership responsible for Scope 3 categories to facilitate data collection, align sustainability efforts, and ensure program consistency across the organization.
  • Carbon Footprint Analysis: Direct the development of data definitions and methodologies for product carbon footprinting, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability standards.
  • Leadership in Carbon Credit & Renewable Energy Programs: Manage renewable energy certificates (RECs) and carbon credit programs, providing strategic oversight to align these initiatives with DENSO’s carbon neutrality goals.
  • Roadmap Development for Carbon Neutrality: Contribute to the development of long-term roadmaps for transitioning away from reliance on carbon credits, identifying potential improvements in renewable energy utilization and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Collaboration with DX Team: Work closely with the DX team to integrate sustainability visions and data-driven tools into energy management and reporting systems.

Communication Required:

  • Internal: Collaborate with facility teams, cross-functional groups, and sustainability leaders to align data collection efforts and support energy planning initiatives.
  • External: Coordinate with renewable energy suppliers, carbon credit vendors, and industry stakeholders to ensure effective program implementation and compliance with external reporting requirements.

Problem Solving and Analysis:

  • Analyze complex energy data and Scope 3 carbon data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization in energy demand and supply forecasting.
  • Identify gaps in carbon credit and renewable energy initiatives, proposing data-driven solutions to enhance program performance.

Judgment and Decision-Making:

  • Make data-informed recommendations to improve the accuracy of energy forecasting and the effectiveness of renewable energy and carbon credit programs.
  • Determine best practices for integrating carbon footprinting tools and energy management systems across all scopes.

Continuous Improvement/Innovation:

  • Drive continuous improvement in data collection processes, reporting efficiency, and energy forecasting models to better support DENSO’s long-term sustainability goals.
  • Research and propose new methods or tools to enhance renewable energy program management and carbon data analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Studies or Sustainable Energy Management, Data Science, Analytics, or Data Management required
  • 2-5 years of direct professional experience required
  • Preferred experience in Data Analysis Tools and Software, awareness of Knowledge of Renewable Energy Credits and Carbon Credits, project management skills

 Annual Salary: $75,000-$95,000
