Cloud Engineer

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving the reliability, scalability and performance of cloud infrastructure and applications hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). They have hands-on knowledge of many AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) as well as knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), and Configuration Management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, etc. This role bridges the gap between development and operations teams to ensure client needs are met.

Requirements

• Provide “Next-Gen” AWS collaboration – Proactively offering and suggesting new solutions to aid clients in their adoption of AWS.

• Design and Implement Cloud Infrastructure - with a focus on scalability, security, and cost-optimization
• Create Observability – via proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
• Manage Infrastructure – using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible, and others.
• Implement CI/CD Pipelines – using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, CodePipeline, Jenkins, and others.
• Automate Operational Processes – creating workflows to eliminate manual tasks (such as updating libraries).
• Troubleshoot and Resolve issues – perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for client incidents, resolve performance bottlenecks, and mitigate recurring systems failures.
• Enhance Security – Manage IAM roles, monitor for vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with various organizational standards.

Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ Years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or CDK.
• Proficiency in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CICD, CodePipeline, Jenkins, Harness.
• Proficiency in a scripted language, such as Python, Typescript, Bash, or similiar.
• Familiarity with container technology (Docker, containerd, systemd-nspawn)
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate)
• An understanding of security and compliance best practices (IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty)
• Familiarity with observability tools, such as CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenSearch, OTEL.
• Networking Knowledge, with an understanding of VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, load balancing, and DNS.

• Migration and Modernization – Experience moving customers from an on-premises environment into the Cloud.
• Machine Learning and AI – Experience crafting client solutions that utilize AWS AI/ML services.
• Communication and Collaboration – able to work well with clients and stakeholders to design solutions
• Troubleshooting Skills – able to employ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess issues and determine fixes.
• Familiarity with Agile or DevOps project management methodologies.
