As a technology leader across mobile, fixed and cloud networks, our solutions enable a more productive, sustainable and inclusive world.Come create the technology that helps the world act together
Nokia is committed to innovation and technology leadership across mobile, fixed and cloud networks. Your career here will have a positive impact on people’s lives and will help us build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and inclusive world.
We challenge ourselves to create an inclusive way of working where we are open to new ideas, empowered to take risks and fearless to bring our authentic selves to work.
The team you'll be part of
Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.
The internship will take place within Nokia Bell Labs research facilities in France, located in Nokia Paris Saclay premise in Massy (12 Rue Jean Bart, 91300 Massy) which is around 15 km south from Paris:
- The premise is within 10-minute walk from Massy-Palaiseau RER B/C station
- Alternatively, you can get there by car via A6a/A10 (exit D188 towards Palaiseau/Massy/Villebon-sur-Yvette)
What you will learn and contribute to
With Nokia Bell Labs researchers, the intern will participate in a research study related to the network and compute coordination for supporting stringent applications such as AR/VR. This study especially focuses on the design, implementation and comparison of distributed/decentralized algorithms and protocols to discover network and compute resources across multiple domains and to optimally deploy a distributed application over such resources.
In this context, he/she will:
- Setup an open-source (Edge Computing and/or 5G) platform jointly with distributed topologies to deploy and benchmark designed algorithms. This work includes the generation of models for network resources (e.g. network interface card, network link) and models for compute resources (e.g. CPU i7, GPU, NPU) as well as the models representing the distributed applications.
- Implement first algorithms and benchmark them. e.g. against a centralized algorithm.
- Participate into the improvement of designed algorithms.
- Help in presenting and showcasing the implemented demonstration while high lighting related innovations
You have knowledge in:
- Networking: LAN (Eth/Wi-Fi), IP network protocol stack, SDN, NFV, telecommunication network architecture.
- Programming: Bash/Shell script, Python, C/C++.
- Systems/Software: Linux, VirtualBox.
It would be nice if you also have:
- Knowledge in 5G architecture
- Knowledge of Docker containers
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and GO language
- Knowledge of OMNET++ or NS3
- Knowledge in multi-agent systems
- Knowledge in AI/ reinforcement learning, LLMs for programming assistance
