Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

Reports To: Senior Director, Data Science and Analytics

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid) 

Activision Blizzard Media and King (a part of Activision-Blizzard) are building a new team to introduce innovative, impactful, and rewarding advertising experiences to our huge audience of highly engaged players and create powerful marketing solutions embraced by the world's biggest marketers. Activision Blizzard Media is seeking a passionate Data Scientist interested in pushing the boundaries of mobile game analytics and advertising product performance.

Your role within our Kingdom

  • Leverage understanding of metrics, testing methodology, and business strategy to help define the company's roadmap.

  • Promote and use advanced machine learning and statistical modeling techniques (e.g., reinforcement learning, time series forecasting, causal methods) to provide precise measurements of our player base and build data products that power our advertising platform.

  • Present and visualize recommendations clearly and concisely to senior management for decision-making.

  • Partner with key cross-functional teams and leadership, including Product, Engineering, and Game Studios.

  • Proactively identify and lead improvements to the execution of research and analytics within the Data Science team.

Skills to create thrills

  • Masters degree in Statistics, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field

  • 4+ years of work experience using statistical analysis and machine learning, coding, and querying data

  • Deep understanding of experimental design, machine learning concepts, and statistical models. Experience translating product and business needs into the appropriate modeling or statistical framework. 

  • You are methodological and practical. You are able to prioritize and assist with business requests such as analyzing A/B tests, unexpected user behavior, complex interaction dynamics, etc. 

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners (e.g., Product, Engineering, Business Strategy, Game Studios) daily. 

  • Proficient in coding (Python, SQL) and computer science fundamentals. 

  • Familiar with data pipelining tools and automation systems. Comfortable partnering with data engineering and software engineers to define data requirements and needs

Bonus points

  • Prior experience in advertising data products 

  • Prior experience working with game studios

  • Experience working within cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP)

  • Familiar with data processing (e.g., Spark, Flink, Hive) and storage systems (e.g., S3, Redshift, Bigquery) at large scale

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $92,920.00 - $171,814.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
