Role Overview
At our Company, we are committed to ensuring the highest standards of data compliance, security, and quality. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Data Quality and Data Stewardship to lead our data quality initiatives and stewardship efforts across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data governance, data quality and data management practices. This role will focus on establishing a culture of data ownership, accountability, and integrity, ensuring that our data assets are accurate, reliable, and compliant with applicable standards.
What will you do in this role:
Provides leadership to managers and/or professionals in the Data Stewardship team, driving the establishment of data governance and information management standards and ensuring team adherence.
Develops business plans, including financial, production and/or organizational priorities for the Data Stewardship department, ensuring team compliance with data security and quality standards by regularly reviewing data for fitness of purpose.
Makes operational decisions, guided by resource availability and department objectives, directing the management and documentation of business rules applied on data assets.
Develops relationships with key clients and/or customers to identify emerging needs, directs the monitoring of data usage and provides team guidance on how, when, and where to utilize data for decision-making.
Applies business and management expertise to set and achieve financial and operational objectives within the Data Stewardship department, managing the team in defining and implementing policies and procedures around intake, storage, processing and transmission of data.
Resolve complex technical, operational and financial problems within the Data Stewardship department, establishes team or project objectives and directions, provides coaching and feedback to team members, and resolves escalated issues.
Explains difficult concepts and persuades others to adopt a point of view, accountable for the performance and results of the Data Stewardship unit.
Makes decisions – guided by policies and procedures – that impact the unit’s ability to meet performance objectives, consults on an as-needed basis with next-level manager on more complex decisions and/or issues that impact other units with inter-related processes.
Develops priorities and objectives for multiple units within the Data Stewardship department to align with division scorecard, provides input into financial profit plan and manages resources to ensure financial and operational objectives are met.
What Should you have:
10-15 years of experience in Quality Management, Data Management, and Data Modeling.
Strong understanding of data governance and information management standards.
Knowledge of data compliance, security, and quality assurance.
Ability to manage and document business rules applied on data assets.
Experience in monitoring data usage and providing insights for decision-making.
Expertise in defining and implementing policies and procedures for data management.
Experience managing a team of data stewards
Experience leading complex initiatives that span divisions and geographies
Strong understanding of data intake, storage, processing, and transmission.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams.
Strong leadership skills including but not limited to strategic planning, entrepreneurship, innovation, and business savviness. Proven track record in coaching and development, talent growth, and execution excellence.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to influence and motivate others. Excellent emotional intelligence, decision-making skills, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Networking and partnerships should be a key strength.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in data quality management, data stewardship, or data governance, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Strong knowledge of data quality frameworks, best practices, and industry standards.
Experience with data quality tools and data governance platforms (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Talend).
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices.
