Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage the design, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of data analytics solutions.
  • Responsible for management oversight of analytics team operations.  Promote adherence to data management and analytics best practices to ensure timely and accurate delivery of analytics products.
  • Serve as a primary liaison managing multiple data analytics projects across different stakeholders and departmental relationships.  Facilitate highly responsive and effective customer service through relationship building and delivery of high-quality analytic products.
  • Analyze healthcare data from multiple sources including electronic medical records, patient experience surveys, claims, and administrative systems to provide meaningful analytical insights for clinical, operations, finance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Assess analytics project requirements by documenting assumptions, risk, issues, definitions to develop a thorough project plan with realistic goals and timelines. 
  • Evaluate data needs of assigned projects, assure data integrity and suitability, and determine data collection methods, metrics definitions and analysis methods.
  • Analyze business requirements and source systems to translate these inputs into technical data specifications and workflows for the design and development of analytical solutions.
  • Apply a thorough and methodical approach to analysis and presentation of data results including use of data visualizations. Structure analytical results in an organized, visual manner to tell a meaningful and actionable story. Use effective written and verbal communication skills to present analysis and results to diverse stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver business communications, including meeting agendas, presentations, business reports and project communications plans to effectively meet stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams to provide comprehensive analytical support on organizational initiatives.  Interpret, explain, and discuss data analysis results with project team. Make data informed recommendations and support strategies for improving healthcare delivery and outcomes.
  • Conduct analysis, including benchmarking and performance forecasts, to enable data informed decision making.  Perform advanced analytics such as statistical analysis and predictive model development to support organizational initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, data definitions, release notes, and other documentation that supports organizational data governance and change management. Maintain knowledge base of data requirements and measure definitions.
  • Lead and participate in third party vendor and product searches, comparisons, and selection process.
  • Remain current on vendor-specific upgrades and documentation to ensure appropriate change management.
  • Seek to identify ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Make recommendations to supervisor, implement, and monitor results as appropriate in support of organizational and departmental goals.
  • Coach and develop team members, acting as a resource of knowledge and guidance. Supervise team members by ensuring the quality of their work products, and development of their professional and technical skills.
  • Foster an environment that emphasizes a culture of teamwork, excellent customer service, and desire to innovate and seek continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in healthcare analytics, computer science, data science, information technology, computer engineering, or other computational / quantitative field required.
  • Master’s Degree or higher in healthcare analytics, computer science, data science, or quantitative based discipline such as economics, epidemiology, statistics, public health, or health services research preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant healthcare industry experience working in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data management role required.
  • 8+ years of experience in data management, data visualization, business intelligence, and analytics using tools such as MS SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, SAS, or R required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role or managing large data analytics projects required.
  • Working knowledge of relational database and data warehouse concepts required.
  • Epic or Workday experience required.  Certification in Epic Cogito application (Clarity, Caboodle, Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar etc.) desired or must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications required.
