Job Description:

Everest is seeking early career actuarial students to join our team! We will provide the opportunity to develop your actuarial skills while having a visible and immediate impact on the organization’s performance. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Responsibilities:
    • Providing senior management with key strategic information for lines of business and/or business units
    • Maintenance of models and assumptions to support loss ratio planning process
    • Collaboration with Underwriting, Operations and Reserving Departments
    • Automation of existing processes to improve efficiency
    • Support internal presentations on lines of business and business units
  • Actuarial Development:
    • Utilize actuarial student program support in preparation for exams.
    • Progress through actuarial exams to achieve actuarial designation.
  • Specific to Property:
    • Align loss costs in pricing tool and ensure appropriate tool usage
    • Drive improvement in our view of both attritional and cat pricing and implement enhancements in the pricing tool
    • Monitor key portfolio metrics in conjunction with the Property leadership team
  • Specific to Programs:
    • Provide support to new and existing program analyses including rate change, price adequacy, action impact quantification, profitability analysis
  • Specific to Casualty:
    • Provide tool support and rate indications for assigned lines of business and business units
    • Support individual transactions as needed including technical price and rate change
  • Specific to Actuarial Reporting/Planning:
    • Production of monthly price monitoring report
    • Development and enhancement of dashboard reports to track loss emergence and profitability
    • Support the overall planning process and the tools underlying the departments efforts

Qualifications:

  • Seeking May 2024 - December 2024 graduates - Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines of similar rigor

  • Completion of 1 – 2 exams is preferred, internship experience is preferred
  • You enjoy fostering collaborative relationships
  • Flexible and responsive to dynamic business needs including tight turnaround times
  • Excel expertise as well as a preference for competency in at least one of the following: SQL, VBA, R, SAS, Python, or other coding language
  • Dynamic thinker, with attention to detail and willingness to take on a variety of projects and develop creative end-to-end solutions

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA, R, SQL, or Python.
