Join our division, “Sportradar ad:s”, where we provide data-driven marketing and sponsorship services to the iGaming industry. As a Staff Engineer in Ad:s Team, you will be working on a variety of initiatives that help support and enable engineers and delivery across the tribe. As a team we focus on what the business unit needs at any given point in time, with direction from the Director of Engineering and Principal Engineer, looking at large initiatives that align with business and technical goals. We are looking for someone who loves working in a collaborative environment and likes to work on all aspects of the software stack. You will work as part of a small cross-functional team who have influence over architecting solutions, investigating innovative and emergent technologies, building developer enablement tooling, and mentoring peers. 

We use a mix of modern tools and languages and passionately believe in using the best tool for the job, e.g. TypeScript, Node.js, Vue, React, Golang, Kubernetes, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL. 

We utilize both AWS (Amazon Web Services) and GCP (Google Cloud Platform) for our infrastructure, and we are responsible for educating and mentoring engineers in other teams who are developing on top of these platforms. 

THE CHALLENGE  

  • Educating and evangelizing company architectural principles and constraints, driving standardization and governance within Ad:s 
  • Mentoring and training engineers in best practices in software engineering and DevOps 
  • Providing technical guidance, advice and support to teams and helping design, execute, and operate solutions to complex technology problems 
  • Communicating concepts and direction with the creation and maintenance of supporting artifacts to a variety of stakeholders, showing logical implementations and highlighting potential risks 
  • Prevent the spread of accidental architecture, and encourage freedom within a framework 

ABOUT YOU:

Required: 

  • 3+ years of professional full time experience with a C-based language (e.g. Golang, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.) or Python 
  • Ability to understand, analyze and clearly communicate complex problems to people with a varying range of skill levels 
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure from a development and operational perspective 
  • Excellent analytical skills 
  • Passionate about quality, performance and continuous improvement 
  • Very good English language skills 

Experience in some of these areas

  • Understanding of IT Architecture Infrastructure 
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code 
  • Experience developing and operating microservices; health checks, load balancing, observability, metrics, etc. 
  • Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, serverless systems, and a DevOps culture 
  • Optimization and scaling of microservices

The minimum monthly salary for this position is according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, overpayment will be considered depending on qualifications and working experience.  

We relocated to our office near the Nordbahnviertel (Praterstenr) in the 2nd district of Vienna in Q1/2024. Due to the top inner-city location, we are excellently connected to the public transport network and the cycle path network and are therefore very easy to reach. In addition, we offer our employees a state-of-the-art infrastructure near the center of the most livable city in the world.  

OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS: 

  • Initial Screening: A quick chat with our Talent Acquisition Partner to understand your background and expectations. 
  • Technical: Theoretical Interview: 60 minutes to discuss your technical skills on the theoretical level with the technical team.
  • Technical: Coding Interview: 60 minutes of live coding where we do not access the end result but rather the candidate's approach (clean code and thinking process).
  • System Design Interview: 60 minutes to solve a high-level problem with certain requirements.
  • Final Steps: Receive final feedback while onsite visit might be requested and, if successful, an offer! 

We keep it simple and aim to wrap up the process within 3 weeks.
