Responsible for review and analysis of patient encounters to ensure quality, accuracy and regulatory compliance. Responsible for validating information in databases/EMR for outcomes management and specialty registries.


The person in this position is required to work on site.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Previous clerical experience at an acute care hospital preferred

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organization skills, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently on various tasks as well as an affinity for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and external partners.

Role and Responsibilities

  • The HIM Data Specialist utilizes audit tools to monitor integrity of HIM systems.
  • Monitors compliance with policies and procedures relevant to clinical data management and makes suggestions for improvements
  • Interprets/analyzes data from revenue cycle reports
  • Verifies, calculates and maintains daily and monthly quantitative statistical data
  • Prepares data for submission to various registries
  • Monitors delinquency rate/timeliness of documentation and reports delinquencies to appropriate physician
  • Utilizes electronic medical record, document imaging programs and other applications in a productive and efficient manner
  • Performs ROI functions in compliance with federal and state laws and CMH policies
  • Performs birth registrar functions as needed.
