We are on the lookout for a dedicated Data Governance Assistant to join our Data Centre of Excellence on an initial 12-month FTC. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our internal stakeholders, helping them navigate and fulfil their Data Governance needs and responsibilities. You'll play a pivotal part in driving user engagement with our Data Governance products, all while honing your data and communication skills in a supportive and growth-oriented environment. About Technology
Following the successful completion of our recent technology, data and process merger, our Technology division is charging ahead with our strategic plan to amplify the voices of our organisation. This includes leveraging the potential of Cloud solutions, continuously enhancing our security measures, revitalising legacy applications, and enhancing our interactions with strategic partners and suppliers. Our Technology Division spans across two vibrant office locations in London and Colchester, where approximately 200 colleagues are dedicated to empowering our mission – we make books for everyone, because a book can change anyone.
At the heart of this mission is our pivotal Data team, and with your contribution, we can elevate our agile maturity to unprecedented levels.
Key responsibilities:

Help maintain our Business Glossary to ensure a unified business language across Penguin.

Alert the Data Governance team to any risks or issues for timely escalation.

Assist our Data Governance Analysts with exciting key initiatives.

Create and manage essential documentation to ensure secure, high-quality, and accessible data.

Support Data Owners and Data Stewards in managing their data and best practices.

Engage and assist with the administration of our growing Data Steward community.

Learn, maintain, and eventually administer our Data Governance products.

Continuously develop and enhance your data skills in a fun and supportive environment.
What you will bring:

Experience in developing engaging training materials on business processes.
-
Familiarity with creating insightful reports or dashboards.

Strong problem-solving skills.
-
Skilled in creating impactful business communication content for internal audiences.

Experience in identifying, raising, and mitigating data issues and risks.

Proficient in analysing large datasets in Excel using Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and Macros.

Understanding of data structures and data technologies.
-
Basic knowledge of SQL.

A reasonable grasp of Data Governance principles.
