Responsibilities

The Structures and Geohazards research group at FM is looking for creative, self-motivated individuals for internships. Selected candidates will work alongside a unique group of scientists to protect the value of FM clients' businesses by developing methods to identify hazards, assess risk, and produce loss prevention solutions that are efficient and cost-effective. The internship will be supervised by senior staff in the Structures and Geohazards research group and provides an opportunity to engage in solving real-world science and engineering problems in the insurance industry.

In February 2025, the NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) satellite, a 1.5-billion-dollar investment, will start observing the Earth every 6 days. NISAR’s global and rapid coverage will provide unprecedented opportunities to improve resiliency across all fields of Natural Hazards research, capturing both slow surface deformation and rapid changes (damage). NISAR products will be distributed freely in various levels (L0 to L6).

As a NISAR data Intern, you will continue the development of NISAR specific data workflows for ingesting, converting, parsing, extracting, and analyzing NISAR data for across-fields applications.
