Operations - Insurance OperationsWe are excited to announce the formation of a new team, "Group Advanced Analytics," which aims to enhance our data science capabilities by integrating the expertise and resources of various departments. This team will bring together data scientists from the Chief Data Office (CDO) and Actuarial and Business Intelligence members from the Finance and Actuarial Community. As a team member within our dynamic and collaborative environment, you will be embedded in the Finance and Actuarial Committee, specifically within Group Insurance. You will translate business requirements into actionable data insights and ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Operating with limited supervision, you will contribute to the direction and completion of ongoing projects.
The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.
What you can expect:
Assist in the development, maintenance, debugging, and enhancement of existing in-house Excel/SQL/Python-based models under the guidance of senior team members.
Support the team in understanding and implementing Python code-related tasks.
Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and assist in the design of solutions that meet business needs.
Follow industry best practices while assisting in the testing and documentation of models.
Collaborate within a small team (~5-10 individuals) to support improvements in methodology, process/data flow, and technology.
Approach problems with a willingness to learn and consider different viewpoints to contribute to innovative solutions.
Participate in team activities to foster collaboration and maintain progress.
Build working relationships with associates across finance, data office, technology, and other business units to support project goals.
Communicate technical findings and solutions in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical audiences.
Assist in evaluating situations and understanding challenges to contribute to team decisions and milestone achievements.
Support project-level tasks and take initiative to contribute to the success of the team’s objectives.
Understand the importance of seeking answers and learning continuously in the role.
What you'll need:
Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or other quantitative-related fields preferred.
Working experience with data analysis, preferably within an insurance company.
Good communication skills with the ability to discuss concepts effectively within a group setting.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Office-suite software.
Proficiency with Python and SQL code with a willingness to develop expertise in this area.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI is a plus.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a willingness to learn and develop further.
Self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and grow.
Capability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables with guidance from senior team members.
Good problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify potential solutions for challenges.
Execution and collaboration skills, along with good analytical and interpersonal skills.
Experience working on team projects and contributing to achieving team goals while managing individual tasks.
It'd be a plus if you had:
Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
Experience working with data scientists on advanced data science models.
Experience with cloud storage systems such as AWS and Redshift.
