The Headlines:   

In the role of Data Platform Manager working in Milwaukee, WI you will be part of the Information Technology team reporting to the Sr. Mgr Data Platforms & Engineering. You will contribute to a broad range of platform and engineering initiatives within Databricks technology platform. In this technical role, you will oversee the implementation and maintenance of our data platforms. This role is critical in ensuring our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure to support our business objectives.

You will be the key technical expert overseeing data product build & operations and drive a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively create a positive impact on the business. You'll be an empowered member of a team of data engineers who build data pipelines into various source systems, rest data on the Data Lake, and enable exploration and access for analytics, visualization, machine learning, and product development efforts across the company.

You will help scale our Databricks platform and developer tooling to be our enterprise data platform ensuring a supported platform for very large and complex data applications.  You will directly impact the design, architecture, and implementation of MCBC data products around topics like revenue management, supply chain, manufacturing, commercial, etc. You will work closely with process owners, product owners and business users.

 

The Responsibilities: 

  • Lead within a cross-functional team of engineers and data professionals to build software for a large-scale data processing ecosystem supporting real-time and batch data that underpins all analytic and operational data flows
  • Collaborate with internal clients (data science and product teams) to drive solutioning and POC discussions. 
  • Exhibit wide latitude in aligning stakeholders and IT to translate business logic into scalable data and analytic solutions on complex projects
  • Build tools and services to support data discovery, lineage, resiliency, and privacy compliance across the data platform
  • Manage and scale data pipelines from internal and external data sources to support new product launches and drive data quality across data products
  • Design and develop CICD processes for infrastructure components that ensure high availability and agility
  • Drive data engineering and architecture best practices and standards within the team and wider organization, along with a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation
  • Evolve the architectural capabilities and maturity of the data platform by engaging with enterprise architects and strategic internal and external partners.
  • Prototype new approaches and build solutions at scale.
  • Support large-scale experimentation done by data scientists.

 

The Other Qualifications: 

 

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, data mathematics, or related field OR equivalent experience (4+ years) 
  • You have at least 8-10 years experience in cloud data architecture, data and ML engineering
  • You have 8+ years of overall technology experience that includes at least 6+ years of hands-on software development, data engineering, and systems architecture.                                   
  • You have 5+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools.              
  • You have experience with Statistical/ML techniques                              
  • You have knowledge of agile development, including DevOps and DataOps concepts.                                     
  • You have experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.                                       
  • You have strong programming skills in SQL and/or Python
  • You have strong analytical and data modeling skills
  • You have a deep understanding of database technology
  • You have a deep understanding of analytic platform data use
