The Institute for Geophysics at The University of Texas at Austin (UTIG) invites applications for a full-time, temporary Research Engineering/Scientist Associate I. The position is expected to end August 15, 2025.
UTIG is one of the three research units of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Scientists and students at UTIG conduct expeditionary research in Earth Science in all parts of the world.

Purpose
Conduct research on the Moon surface response to MHz radar signal.
Responsibilities
- Establish the reflectivity property of the Lunar surface from the JAXA's Lunar Radar Sounder
- Design and conduct signal calibration from in-situ measurements.
- Investigate the relationship between the radar surface reflectivity and the known structural and compositional properties of the surface and near-surface.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in geophysics or related field.
- Background and experience in planetary geophysics.
- Ability to manipulate planetary data in GIS software and with Python.
- Strong writing skills for potential publication.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to perform independent research as well as collaborate effectively.
Salary Range
$48,000
