Position SummaryThe position in the Department of Pathology and Immunology supports clinical translational research, clinical operations, and education by extracting, analyzing, visualizing and distributing laboratory and electronic health record data. Provide leadership to department in the design and use of data. Design and produce reports, audit queries and other data media as requested. Oversee the analysis of data projects based on departmental strategies to evaluate existing and upcoming initiatives and campaigns. Gather and transform large data outputs into innovative analytic solutions that effectively support the advancement of departmental programs. Serve as a key data and reporting subject matter expert resource for department.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a key data and reporting subject matter expert resource for the department.
    • Participates in providing guidance and insight related to data definitions, business rules and data usage.
    • Participates in and at times lead data-related project work, including assessment, analysis, auditing and preparation of system data in advance of system migration.
    • Participates in and at times lead reporting-related project work, including inventory, assessment, analysis and requirements for reporting and analytics needs.
    • Participates in department-wide IT and data related projects as needed.
  • Produces and distributes accurate and reliable data outputs.
    • Reviews and evaluates user requests. Responsible for producing and/or overseeing fulfillment of the most complex and sensitive data outputs.
    • Designs solutions and develops programs to standardize frequent requests, as well as addresses special requests for programming needs.
    • Conducts analysis on data and assists in the development of improved reporting to department.
    • Assists in maintaining the integrity of the database through scheduled audits, control of data entry and file and systems balancing.
  • Manages the data reporting and analytics functions of department.
    • Manages high-impact data projects in collaboration with departmental partners or other university departments.
    • Execution of priorities established in conjunction with the management.
    • Documents data reporting and analytics processes and business rules.
    • Coordinates data related projects of assigned team (if applicable).
  • Oversees continuous training of departmental staff on data requests and data usage, including guidance on improved use of the IS system. Works with Help Desk and Training Resources to develop responses to commonly asked questions. Leads classroom sessions and brainstorming/needs assessment sessions as needed.
  • Oversees project list of user data requests. Works with colleagues to develop, implement and review quality and scheduling controls to ensure production schedules are maintained and outputs are accurate. Documents all production jobs including timing and distribution. Maintains ongoing communication with colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness of user requests and other projects. Uses this information to assist in managing workflow for department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
