Role overview

The BI Analyst within the Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC) plays a key role in delivering data-driven insights to enhance performance and decision-making. This role focuses on developing and optimising financial reports, monitoring key performance metrics, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. By gathering requirements, implementing BI solutions, and managing change effectively, the BI Analyst ensures stakeholders have the tools and insights needed to drive operational efficiency and achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1 Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Provide accurate and timely insights to monitor SLAs, KPIs, and financial performance.
  • Interpret complex datasets to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency by validating and cleansing data sources.

2 Performance Monitoring

  • Track and analyse key performance metrics across finance processes (e.g., Accounts Payable, Receivable, Month-end Close).
  • Identify underperformance or anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create visualisations and reports to monitor trends in service delivery performance.
  • Support root cause analysis for SLA breaches and escalate critical issues.
  • Present performance updates and insights to leadership teams and stakeholders

3 Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline finance reporting processes.
  • Leverage BI tools to enhance efficiency and reduce manual reporting efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven improvements.
  • Support the design and optimisation of finance processes through actionable insights.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery performance.

4 Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, for data visualisation and reporting.
  • Strong skills in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Experience working with Excel (advanced functions, Power Query, and VBA).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of automation tools and scripting languages such as Python or R for data analysis would be an advantage.

5 Change Management

  • Support the implementation of BI reporting catalogue by ensuring smooth adoption across the finance shared service centre.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather necessary reporting requirements, ensuring alignment, understanding, proper record keeping and sign off.
  • Provide training and guidance on new BI tools, reports, and processes.
  • Monitor the impact of changes and gather feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business users to facilitate effective change adoption.

6 Data & Reporting Governance

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and controls to underlying source data.
  • Manage report quality, version control, and stakeholder access permissions.
  • Develop and maintain governance frameworks to standardise reporting processes and policies.

Experience & Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or other relevant subject
  • End to end finance process understanding
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse complex data sets and create insightful reports
  • Experience in designing self-service BI reporting solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and translate data into strategies
