Data is at the core of our business. The Data Engineer serves as a key resource in building and executing on Chubb's information strategy. The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who will take ownership of your projects and deliver high-quality data-driven solutions. The primary responsibilities include using services and tools to ingest, egress, and transform data from multiple sources. They manage and secure the flow of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources and should be comfortable working with data platforms that can include relational databases, nonrelation databases, data streams, and file stores. Data Engineers also ensure that data services securely and seamlessly integrate with other data platform technologies or application services such as Microsoft Azure or on-premise solutions.
Data Engineers design and implement solutions. They also manage, monitor, and ensure the security and privacy of data to satisfy business needs.
Position SummaryThe Data Engineer serves as a key resource in building and executing on Chubb's information strategy within Personal Risk Services. This individual will play a key role in data integration efforts by working with key stakeholders, developers, data testers, and report developers to form a cohesive unit responsible for providing business information. The associate will have the unique opportunity to be exposed to Chubb data and the Personal Insurance domain.
Responsibilities- Analyze business procedures and requirements to recommend specific types of data that can be used to improve upon them.
- Develop data pipelines using Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC)
- Work with data analysts on data mappings, rules, and clarifications.
Facilitate the data testing process by providing inputs on systems, data flows, and field level values. As well as reviewing test cases and ensuring quality data is promoted
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent data analysis skills applying Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Experience in performing analysis and design for data management and data driven projects
- Exposure of working knowledge of at least one programming language Python, Scala, Java, C#.
- Exposure to serialized data formats like JSON or XML.
- Experience with the command line and shell scripting languages such as bash or ksh
Bonus Skills
- Prior experience working in the Property and Casualty Insurance domain
- Experience working with and creating entity relationship models for distributed databases
- Exposure or experience with Cloud Platforms such as MS Azure
- Experience with development tools such as git and integrated development environments
- Understanding of the SAFe Agile development methodology
