The Marketing and Promotional Optimization Lead is a highly visible and pivotal role within Pfizer’s Data Science team, central to our modern, data-driven marketing strategy.

As the driving force behind our marketing mix and promotional optimization, you will play a crucial role in influencing key business decisions and steering our marketing initiatives towards success. Your expertise in storytelling and executive influence will ensure that complex data insights are translated into compelling narratives that resonate with senior leadership and stakeholders across the organization. 

In this dynamic role, you will lead a talented team of data scientists and marketing analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Your ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams will be essential in aligning our marketing strategies with broader business objectives. 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES  

Maintain and Modernize Marketing Mix Modeling Program 

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced marketing mix models to measure the effectiveness of various marketing channels and tactics.  

  • Act as the ambassador of data-driven marketing and solidify the central role of Marketing ROI in the marketing and sales analytics ecosystem. 

  • Create a roadmap of marketing mix capability evolution and manage the team and cross-functional partners to achieve roadmap milestones. 

  • Is accountable for creating an environment where continuous improvement and innovation are embedded in day-to-day operations across own Enterprise or Division 

  • Link Marketing Mix program with other analytic capabilities (Engagement Analytics, Creative Testing, Audience Analytics, Forecasting, Patient Funnel Analytics) to create a central hub of intelligence of drivers of ROI excellence.  

  • Manage a team of onshore and offshore data scientists analyzing historical data to identify key drivers of marketing performance and providing actionable insights to optimize marketing spend. 


Provide ongoing consulting on Promotional Resource Allocation 

  • Provide executive stakeholders, business unit leaders, and brand marketers with ongoing consulting on allocation of resources in Marketing, Sales, etc using Marketing Mix and other analytics techniques. Back up analytics with solid story-telling and implementation support. 

  • Craft compelling narratives that translate complex data insights into clear, actionable business strategies. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions and driving organizational change. 

  • Influences senior leadership of Pfizer and/or external environment 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate marketing mix models into strategic planning and decision-making processes. 


Embed Customer Data Science into Marketing and Media 

  • Manage capabilities that utilize machine learning and statistical techniques to segment customers, predict behaviors, and personalize marketing efforts. 

  • Develop and manage a personalized Paid-Owned-Earned Media targeting capability based on channel and content propensities and personalization techniques. 

 

Create and implement a roadmap of new analytics capabilities to modernize data-driven marketing 

  • Develop and implement multi-year roadmaps of marketing analytics innovation along channel/ campaign/ creative/ targeting dimensions.  

  • Serves as strategic advisor on key organization-wide initiatives that may impact Enterprise or Division operational or functional excellence 

  • Create compelling business cases and executive stories for analytics evolution and act as ambassador of marketing analytics innovation. 

  • Decisions have long-term organizational impact across Enterprise and may entail significant risk or business opportunity; Ensures strategies / solutions address emerging business issues and challenges 

 

Design, manage and lead a high-performing team 

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and marketing analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. 

  • Keep pace with marketing and media analytics innovation. Constantly evolve methodology, support model, resourcing to stay on the cutting edge of marketing analytics. 

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that marketing strategies are integrated and aligned with broader business goals. 

  • Work with data engineering teams to ensure data quality and integrity, implementing best practices for data governance and compliance. 

 

Design and Evolve User Experience for the Marketing Mix Program 

  • Design seamless experiences for executives and marketers to interact with marketing mix program: through the right colleague support model and self-serve tool stack. 

  • Maintain resourcing and budget for the program, constantly increasing ROI on the program: through automation, simplification, self-serve capabilities, and implementation support. 

 

  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 12+ years of increased experience in marketing mix modeling, campaign optimization, and customer data science. Less with advanced degree. 

  • Bachelor's Degree Required

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL). 

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change. 

  • Experience in a highly-matrixed environments.  

  • Experience creating analytics programs and products. Strong acumen in analytics product lifecycles. 

  • Proven experience of building analytics capabilities from basic to advanced – including road mapping, business case formulation, resourcing, budgeting, and enablement 

  • Experience embedding analytics into workflows and managing a full-stack development team. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. 

  • Experience in Pharma, with proven knowledge of DTC and HCP Marketing principles. 

  • Content and creative analytics experience – using outcomes-based techniques. 

  • Proven experience linking marketing mix with research techniques and other analytics capabilities with analytic ecosystem principles. 

  • Experience with Dataiku.

  • Work location: Flexible; 2-3 days onsite/week

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $205,400.00 to $342,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
