WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff. Our PHL IT Network Program team is seeking a part-time Data Science Analyst with a computer science degree to work out of the New York One Penn Plaza office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

This internship is anticipated to take place during the Spring 2025 semester. This position is designed to give the candidate exposure to a wide array of client projects and WSP-internal initiatives in our Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) business. Once onboarded, the candidate will be assigned to the PHL IT NET Program’s Fiber Audit Project, focusing on the netTerrain data management-related tasks.

Your Impact
  • Support a variety of data analyst-related tasks including mathematical data science, database systems, statistics, and statistical analysis methods with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of business intelligence and operational systems.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the management and optimization of the netTerrain tool for fiber audit processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to assist technical leads in informing project decisions.
  • Learn compliance with industry standards and best practices to better support the project.
  • Assist and work with vendors in troubleshooting technical issues related to the netTerrain tool.
  • Assist with the maintenance of documentation related to the fiber audit process and tool usage.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited B.S. or M.S. program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in mathematical data science, computational theory, programming languages, reinforcement learning, business intelligence, data analysis tools and techniques, artificial intelligence, or a related field, and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related Master’s program with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025 or later. 
  • Experienced with technical writing and MS Office software. 
  • Possesses prior internship experience and leadership involvement on campus.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $19.10 - $30.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
