Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Lead to oversee the technical maintenance, development, and testing of our data systems. The Data Lead will be responsible for defining and driving the standards and best practices for data-related processes, ensuring that data systems are developed, maintained, and tested to meet organizational goals. This role will involve managing data-related projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the overall health and performance of the data architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define Data Development and Maintenance Standards: Develop and enforce standards, frameworks, and best practices for data development, integration, and maintenance to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability of data systems.
- Data System Development: Collaborate and partner with Architects, Data modelers to Lead the development of new data systems, processes, and tools, ensuring they align with business goals and technical requirements.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Establish and drive testing standards and practices for data systems, including unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing. Ensure all data solutions are thoroughly tested for quality, reliability, and accuracy.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to the data development team, offering technical expertise in areas such as data architecture, ETL, data pipelines, and database optimization.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business teams to define requirements, design solutions, and resolve technical issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for optimizing and automating data processes to enhance efficiency and performance. Monitor the performance of data systems and proactively implement improvements.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Lead the investigation and resolution of data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to data services and operations.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data systems, including architecture, development processes, and testing procedures.
- Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure all data systems and processes comply with internal data governance policies and relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in data management, development, or a similar technical role, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior position.
- Proven experience defining and implementing data development, testing, and maintenance standards.
- Strong knowledge of data technologies and platforms (Snowflake, DBT, Azure ADF Pipelines, or Google Cloud).
- Expertise in building, testing, and maintaining data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration strategies.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and data warehousing principles.
- Strong understanding of software development and testing methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, TDD).
- Experience with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of data systems.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the healthcare industry is preferred, including understanding of healthcare data models, regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA), and industry-specific challenges.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake Is preferred).
- Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Apache Kafka).
- Familiarity with advanced analytics tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau or Qlik).
- Certification in data modeling or data architecture (e.g., DAMA, CDMP).
- Familiarity with Agile or other project management methodologies.
- Certifications in cloud technologies, data engineering, or relevant data platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer).
- Prior experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a data-driven organization.
