Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Data Steward with a strong understanding of data management and quality assurance to join our Data & Analytics team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to oversee the testing of data, ensuring its accuracy, consistency, and integrity through User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data and business processes, and the ability to collaborate with business users, data teams, and IT to write and execute test cases that validate data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Testing & Validation: Lead the testing of data systems and solutions, ensuring that all data is accurate, consistent, and ready for use in business processes and decision-making.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Collaborate with business stakeholders to define UAT test cases that validate data functionality, ensuring data systems meet business requirements and specifications.
  • Test Case Creation & Documentation: Write detailed and comprehensive test cases for UAT, focusing on data integrity, business rules, data transformations, and overall data quality.
  • Test Execution: Execute test cases, track results, and identify any data discrepancies, issues, or failures. Work with data and development teams to resolve any issues found during testing.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure that data complies with governance policies, standards, and business rules. Monitor and assess data quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with business analysts, developers, data engineers, and business users to understand data requirements and identify test scenarios that reflect real-world usage.
  • Data Issue Resolution: Investigate and document data issues identified during testing. Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure that issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide clear and concise test results, reports, and updates to stakeholders. Communicate any issues, risks, or deviations from expected data behaviors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify patterns or recurring data issues that require process improvements. Recommend changes to testing processes or data management practices to improve efficiency and data quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with data testing, data quality assurance, or data stewardship roles.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, data types, and data modeling principles.
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including creating and executing test cases, as well as tracking and documenting results.
  • Familiarity with data management and data governance principles, including data quality standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of common data tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Excel, data visualization tools, or business intelligence software).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify data issues and discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data-related issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with test automation tools or data testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and how they apply to data testing and UAT processes.
  • Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration tools.
  • Experience with data governance tools or platforms (e.g., Informatica, Collibra).
  • Prior experience in the healthcare or financial services industry (if applicable).

  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, working closely with business and technical teams to ensure data solutions meet requirements.
