Overview
The Business and Clinical Intelligence Developer (BID) role encompasses advanced responsibilities in software development and analytics. BIDs provide both ad-hoc and automated data products to the organization and to vendors outside the organization, utilizing acquired expertise in clinical, revenue, and/or patient movement data models. The BID will conduct in-depth analysis, design intricate solutions, and implement those solutions as stored SQL procedures, reports, and data extracts from the Epic Cogito analytics environment as well as various clinical and financial systems within Riverside. Leveraging a diverse range of software technologies, BIDs play a pivotal role in enhancing our business and clinical intelligence capabilities, as well as realizing our data science strategy. Furthermore, it is imperative that BID's maintain the utmost confidentiality when handling protected health information, and employ exceptional interpersonal skills to identify and resolve any challenges that may arise during the course of projects.

What you will do

  • Data Product Development: The primary function of a Business and Clinical Intelligence Developer (BID) is to create both ad-hoc and automated data products in support of the organization's data strategy. This involves gathering, processing, and transforming data into meaningful insights that support the organization's decision-making process. BIDs should have expertise and certifications in clinical, revenue, and/or patient movement data models to produce valuable data products. Additionally, BID's may employ business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Cogito SQL, Reporting Workbench, MoveIT, and internal purpose-built reporting tools.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Initiates timely communication and analyzes customer / project team reporting needs. Effectively engages the customer to determine the purpose of the report and identify required items versus optional items prior to starting any build. Cross-checks for understanding and appropriateness of continuing build when a partial report or multiple reports may be more appropriate. Consistently communicates with customers and leadership about status, milestones, or obstacles using all available means if necessary (including but not limited to Service Now, Teams, email, phone calls, or meetings). Encourages stakeholders to use Service Now when receiving requests via email or other venues outside of the standard report request process, to ensure work tracking, triage, and prioritization. Sets up and facilitates meetings and includes appropriate project team members and operational stakeholders as needed. Initiates pro-active communication with leadership to request assistance with prioritization of request volume and/or critical issues.
  • Cogito Analytics: Developers should possess and provide expertise in designing comprehensive reporting solutions using Cogito tools and SQL. They must be able to take project or unclear stakeholder requirements, iteratively refine them, and translate them into efficient and scalable database solutions, reporting systems, and analytical tools. This function involves selecting the appropriate technology, defining and/or employing the correct data models, and creating robust reporting applications that meet the organization's clinical and financial intelligence needs. Research and proactively report on opportunities within Epic UserWeb, Galaxy, or other software packages within the developer's purview.
  • iCare Maintenance: Reviews Nova Notes upgrade documentation related to Cogito tools and content; determines best methods for implementing, disseminating, and training on the changes. Ensures all related reporting continues to function as expected. Ensures all assigned upgrade related tasks are completed on time. Engages in Sherlock support logs as needed for troubleshooting the reporting environment.
  • Implement special assignments and projects as directed by a Business and Clinical Intelligence Manager. Focus areas will include data engineering, data development, or data science to realize the organization's overall analytics strategy.
  • Certification and Training: Maintain Epic Certification New Version Training (NVT) in assigned coverage areas.
