Power BI Reporting Analyst

We are seeking an experienced professional who can hit the ground running in our exciting and fast-paced company! The Power BI Reporting Analyst with .NET Development Experience will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards while leveraging their .NET development skills to enhance data integration and automation processes. This role combines business intelligence expertise with software development skills to create robust reporting solutions, ensuring efficient data flow, seamless report generation, and high-quality insights for stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both Power BI development and .NET technologies, with a strong ability to deliver end-to-end reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities:  
Report & Dashboard Development: • Design, develop, and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business requirements and provide meaningful insights. • Create interactive and visually appealing dashboards with complex KPIs and metrics to assist in data-driven decision-making. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather report requirements and translate them into scalable reporting solutions.
Data Modeling & Transformation: • Build and maintain optimized Power BI data models that provide a strong foundation for reports and dashboards. • Use Power Query and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to transform, clean, and structure raw data for visualization. • Develop advanced data models to aggregate and combine data from multiple sources, ensuring accurate reporting.
.NET Development & Integration: • Leverage .NET development skills to create custom data connectors, integrate Power BI with other applications, and automate data flows. • Develop and maintain APIs or custom scripts to automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes between systems (e.g., ERP, CRM) and Power BI. • Implement solutions using .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET) for back-end processes that support Power BI reporting.
Data Analysis & Insights: • Perform in-depth data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies, and communicate findings to stakeholders. • Provide actionable insights based on data, identifying areas for business improvement and optimization. • Conduct ad-hoc analysis, ensuring data is clear, accurate, and relevant for decision-making.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, IT, and department leads, to understand reporting needs and ensure solutions align with business objectives. • Offer training and support to end-users on how to interact with Power BI reports and dashboards, troubleshooting any issues that arise. • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Performance Optimization & Maintenance: • Monitor and optimize the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards for speed and reliability. • Identify areas of improvement for performance, data flow, and reporting, recommending optimization strategies. • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to Power BI reports, data models, or integration with other systems.
Documentation & Standards: • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Power BI reports, data models, custom integrations, and .NET-based solutions. • Follow best practices for report design, data management, and documentation to ensure consistency and reusability across the team.
Quality Assurance: • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data across reports, dashboards, and underlying systems. • Perform regular quality checks and validation of data sources to ensure reports are based on reliable data.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Power BI report development and analysis. • Strong experience in .NET development, including C#, ASP.NET, or other .NET technologies. • Experience integrating Power BI with custom-built applications or databases using .NET technologies. • Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle). • Hands-on experience with Power BI (Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, and visualizations).
Technical Skills: • Strong proficiency in Power BI development, including data transformation, modeling, and visualization. • Solid experience with .NET development and integration (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core). • Familiarity with web services (REST, SOAP) and API development for data integration. • Expertise in using SQL to extract and manipulate data from databases. • Knowledge of Azure or cloud-based data services is a plus. • Experience with version control tools like Git.
Soft Skills: • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results. • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and improving current practices.
