About the workplace
Join our team as the Senior Manager of Visa Risk & Analytics and be at the forefront of driving profitability and growth in our credit card business. In this pivotal role, you'll harness the power of data to shape portfolio management, mitigate risks, enhance member experiences, and steer our overall product strategy. You'll define and implement data-driven strategies for our credit card products and services, leveraging insights to refine offerings, optimize risk management, boost acquisition and retention, and propel business growth. This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.
A typical day would involve:
Data Strategy & Insights:
- Develop and deploy analytical models and techniques within the organization, including segmentation techniques to derive actionable insights.
- Develop and validate advanced data mining tools, algorithms, and other capabilities to solve business problems.
- Design and implement data quality routines, making progress towards stablishing a monitoring engine that measures key quality rules and data standards, and triggers proactive performance alarms.
- Work with large volumes of data extract and manipulate large datasets using standard tools such as Hadoop Ecosystem, SQL, PySpark, Python, ML tools, to provide data-driven recommendations to improve product offerings, pricing, and features.
- Continuously develop and present innovative ideas in order to improve current strategies
- Stay up-to-date with the latest analytics tools, technologies, and industry trends to improve data analytics capabilities.
- Lead efforts in adopting advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other technologies to improve business outcomes.
Risk Management & Credit Scoring:
- Oversee risk analytics for credit card portfolio, including credit risk assessment, line management, authorization strategies, mitigating charge-offs and delinquencies.
- Collaborate with risk and underwriting teams to ensure proper credit risk models are in place for credit card approvals and limits.
- Monitor portfolio health against industry standards and manage strategies to optimize opportunities and minimize losses, defaults, and fraud.
Product Performance & Optimization:
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as approval rates, retention, credit utilization, and spending behavior.
- Develop models to optimize product pricing, reward programs, and customer segmentation.
- Track and evaluate marketing campaigns to determine effectiveness in acquiring and retaining customers.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, ensuring their professional growth and aligning team objectives with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, risk, operations, and product development, to implement strategies and ensure alignment.
- Communicate complex analytics findings to senior leadership and stakeholders in a clear, actionable format.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure all analytics and strategies comply with relevant regulations.
- Manage reporting to senior management, providing insight into portfolio performance, risk trends, and strategic initiatives.
You have:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. A Master's degree in the mentioned disciplines is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in credit card analytics, risk management, or related financial services industry roles.
- At least 3-5 years in a managerial or senior leadership position, with experience leading and mentoring teams.
- Strong understanding of credit card product lifecycle, credit risk, fraud detection, and financial regulations.
- Extensive experience with statistical modeling, segmentation analysis, and data visualization techniques.
- Proficiency in analytics and visualization tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, or similar.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and applying advanced data analysis techniques to drive business outcomes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.

The salary range for the role is $102,200 to $153,200. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
