Chewy is seeking a Sr Technical Product Manager to join the Discovery Product Organization in our Seattle or Boston office. This team owns design, functionality, user experience, and performance of Product Listing Pages (PLPs), including search, browse, brand pages, and cross-site recommendations CX. Our mission is to help customers to navigate and discover products and services on Chewy.com through automation. By using customer signals and algorithms, we strive to understand their intent, driving personalized experiences that increase customer acquisition and retention, leading to higher incremental active customers and net sales per active customer.

In this role, you will implement search functionalities, focusing on auto-suggest—a core e-commerce feature that predicts and displays relevant search terms in real time as customers type. This requires a deep understanding of search query patterns, customer behavior analysis, and using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to improve accuracy, term relevance, and predictive capabilities. Additionally, you will work on category-specific ground truth programs to address data gaps, improve the quality of training datasets, and optimize search result precision for diverse product categories.  
 
This role encompasses idea generation, user feedback, prototype testing, and data analysis. You'll work closely with ML scientists and engineers to build highly scalable, customer-first experiences, applying innovative AI and ML models to power search algorithms. You will be instrumental in delivering technical solutions that improve search functionality on Chewy!

What You’ll Do: 

  • Implement and optimize specific search functionalities, including auto-suggest and zero-state improvements, ensuring relevance and usability for customers.
  • Define and analyze measures of success (critical metrics) for search-related features and improvements; translate customer and business insights into clear requirements for search optimizations.
  • Use your customer-first attitude and expertise in search algorithms to guide the development and delivery of outstanding search experiences across Chewy.com.
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap and prioritized product backlog, ensuring alignment between product vision and both customer and business goals.
  • Lead the end-to-end product development process for search features, balancing product requirements with technical feasibility and complexity.
  • Drive innovation through continuous improvement, employing A/B experiments, data analysis, and feedback to iterate on search algorithms and product functionality.
  • Collaborate with machine learning scientists, engineering, design, and analytics teams to deliver search features that provide high value, ensuring products meet technical standards and drive measurable impact. 

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ year of shown experience in technical product management or a similar role leading cross-functional projects, balancing product, business and technical requirements.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics), or equivalent technical experience. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Strong experience in applying machine learning techniques and algorithms in a product setting.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in using data to drive product decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver highly technical products that are scalable and customer-focused.
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • Strong business, operational, and technical vision.
  • Ability to articulate concepts at the executive level.  
  • E-commerce experience preferred.
  • Experience with search algorithms, NLP techniques, and related methods. 

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for a Senior TPM position is $134,500.00 - $215,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be motivated by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s prior experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, and a new hire and annual equity grant.
