Reporting to the Sr. Mgr. Enterprise Data Governance, the Senior Data Governance Analyst will improve the integrity, discoverability, and accessibility of shared data assets by leading the integration and enterprise-wide use of Data Governance Tools and Technologies to improve data value creation across the enterprise as well its Data Stewardship Program. 

 

Who we're looking for:

  • Facilitate workshops with business partners and Data Stewards/Data Specialist/SMEs to determine data governance requirements and address pain points 
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to data stewards to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities. 
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops on data governance practices and principles. 
  • Communicate data governance policies and procedures effectively across the organization to ensure understanding and compliance. 
  • Follow structured approach to elicit requirements and provide solutions for data quality, discoverability, and accessibility deliverables.  
  • Define and manage scope and deliverables to align with stakeholder expectations 
  • Implement Data Stewardship Program and Change management process 
  • Establish and maintain processes, procedures and business rules for enabling creation of consistent, high-quality data.  
  • Develop data standards and/or processes to address the business requirements for each of our data quality dimensions. 
  • Undertake continuous process improvement and proactively troubleshoot to maintain process performance and provide reporting to demonstrate progress.  
  • Work with the Business to build data quality rules for specific data attributes and enable the ability to define and easily monitor key metrics and resolve issues identified and tracked through Collibra, targeted alerting mechanisms and BI tools. 
  • Document data remediation and/or adjustment recommendations, creates User Stories and/or data sets from internal and external systems, databases & data providers, as applicable. 
  • Pro-actively communicate and collaborate with all business stakeholders to analyze business and system functional requirements, and utilize the appropriate artefacts as needed: business requirement documents, functional specifications, data specifications, use cases, workflow analysis, reports, etc. 
  • Work closely with Enterprise data engineers, DevOps engineers, platform partners, Data Architecture, Data Stewards, and Consumers across the enterprise to integrate data quality, discoverability, and accessibility practices that drives data transparency and ensures a high degree of confidence across the organization 
  • Support in implementation of effective internal control structure in accordance with prescribed governance, risk and compliance requirements 
  • Develop detailed understanding of data, gather insights and provide support and training to peers/subordinates to improve team performance and understanding. 

 

What you bring:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience with data governance policies, data management or data analysis. 
  • Experience using BI tools to effectively communicate KPIs, Metric and pertinent information to support to decision-making and planning. 
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of data analysis methods and the ability to analyze and resolve complex data related issues. 
  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge of database and application principles and types 
  • Proficiency in SQL programming 
  • 2+ years of experience conducting root cause analysis, using tools/frameworks such as SQL, Excel, Python, Hive. 
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a numerical discipline, business administration, finance, information technology or a combination/equivalent. 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 
  • Ability to explain data and business processes and train peers/subordinates to access systems, conduct assessments, and report insights and findings 
  • Proficiency in preparation of reports and presentations for senior managers and Executives. 

 

Nice-to-have 

  • Experience using a Data Quality tool, such as Informatica Data Quality, Oracle Enterprise Data Quality, Collibra Data Quality, or other.  
  • Experience using Collibra or a similar data management or workflow platform 
  • Knowledge of JAVA 
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities during busy periods
