Supervisor – FL SW Test Operations 

In this role you will inherit a small team of SW Test Technicians based in Fort Pierce, FL  and be responsible for the execution of daily outdoor software testing to track, record, and report machine performance. 

Areas of responsibility

  • Execute SW test plans driven by requirements delivered from our SW Test Engineering team to meet the KPIs and metrics for SW testing
  • Execute SW test plans driven by requirements delivered from SW Test Engineering to monitor key metrics such as MTBA, MTBF, and acres per hour, and report on performance across various machine configurations under test
  • Set and maintain high standards of documentation, ensuring clear and organized reports on all bugs and system performance
  • Engage in technical discussions with Engineering counterparts to bridge the gap between field observations and root cause analysis
  • Collaboration with our SW Engineering team to review current and ongoing bug list to align on priority of testing order
  • Collaboration with our SW Engineering team to develop training materials and protocols for test technicians to ensure efficient and accurate issue reporting
  • Collaboration with our SW Engineering team to assign incoming tests as to the appropriate test technician based on their capability and resources
  • Step in as a SW Test Technician as needed to cover for PTO, training, travel for test technicians on your team.
  • Responsible for the overall performance management and coaching of our SW Test technicians including, but not limited to; weekly 1:1s, mid-year and end of year performance reviews.
  • Responsible for the ongoing training and development of the existing team as well and new hires
  • Involvement in the hiring process for future roles related to SW Testing within our organization

This is not a remote or hybrid role, this position requires the individual to spend 80% of their time in the field with our SW Test Technicians. The ideal applicant is comfortable being outdoors and working in adverse conditions.

This role is based in Fort Pierce, FL with frequent local travel required to several testing sites within a one-hour radius of Fort Pierce.

This role also requires domestic travel up to 20% of the calendar year to our headquarters in Longmont, CO for in person collaboration and training with our SW Engineering team.

 Basic Requirements 

  • Relevant degree in Engineering (Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a relevant technical field 
  • 2+ years of experience working on safety-critical, complex systems, such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, or aerospace technologies.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to gather precise details from test technicians and relay them to engineering teams.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving within a technical domain
  • Familiarity with Linux, scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python), and issue tracking and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Git).
  • High attention to detail, especially in communicating, documenting and organizing technical issues
  • Ability to pass a FL DOT medical evaluation and comfortable driving a truck/trailer towing up ~10,000 lbs
