Our team leverages advanced analytics and data science to enhance decision-making, optimise procurement strategies, and deliver value to the business.
The Data Scientist is a pivotal role within the Data Science section of the Data & Analytics team, tasked with developing advanced data analysis systems, applications, and models for predictive and prescriptive analytics. This role requires a synergistic blend of technical prowess and strategic communication, as well as the ability to guide junior team members and lead projects independently.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Development
Deliver statistical and mathematical models through effective technical leadership.
Develop sophisticated software assets that provide advanced analytical functionality both independently and as part of a team.
Leverage domain expertise, statistical methods, and algorithms to analyse and interpret data sets, organising information to unearth actionable insights and solve complex problems.
Data Management
Collect, cleanse, transform, and integrate data from various sources, including databases and data that exceeds memory limits.
Develop and code software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to maintain data integrity.
Business Context
Understand business challenges, limitations, constraints, and goals to align data science capabilities with business needs.
Ensure that advanced analytics are seamlessly integrated into decision-making processes and business tasks.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to identify project opportunities and define project scope.
Team Collaboration & Culture
Promote a collaborative, high-performing data-driven culture across the company.
Establish and maintain high-quality delivery standards among fellow data scientists.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2+ years of relevant experience in data science, experience with Procurement or Supply Chain business is a plus.
Skills
Solid knowledge of one or more programming languages used in data science like R or Python.
Experience with machine learning and statistical modelling techniques and their applications for solving business problems.
Experience with building web applications and interactive reports using frameworks like Shiny (R/Python), Dash, Streamlit, Quarto, Rmarkdown.
Experience with developing Generative AI applications using LangChain or a custom codebase is a significant plus.
Strong working knowledge of SQL
Demonstrated ability to solve analytical problems with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills for effectively conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency with data visualisation tools and techniques.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
Familiarity with version control, agile methodologies, and project management principles.
Fluent English is required.
