BI Developer

About the role:

Flogas Ireland is currently expanding its BI & Data team, and we are looking for the right candidate to help develop our BI environment and work with the business to meet their data and reporting needs. This will involve working with several legacy systems and data structures before later being involved in the BI phase of the project to implement a new ERP for our Energy business based on Dynamics365.

The successful candidate should be comfortable on both the technical side and the operational side of the business. They role will involve close liaison with the business to understand the various requirements for data and analysis to improve operations and performance. At the same time the candidate will build their understanding of the existing data warehouse and the ETL processes behind it, and work to improve and expand the data model to ensure all requirements can be met in the best way possible.

Knowledge and experience of data warehousing principles is essential, along with the communication skills to work with the business and the technical skills to develop our BI environment to ensure it continues to meet business needs. Experience using SQL, SSIS, and Power BI is required. The goal is to deliver high-quality data, reporting and insight to help move the business towards data-driven decision-making.

This role will initially be based out of our Drogheda Head office but will primarily be based in our new offices at Dublin Airport Central later this year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the business users to understand processes, define the requirements, and use your knowledge of the business data sources and data models to deliver high-quality output
• Develop and improve the ETL processes supporting our data warehouse, and adjust/improve the facts and dimensions to ensure accuracy and consistency across all business reporting
• Develop reports and dashboards in Power BI to meet the requirements of business users and to deliver data-driven insights that will benefit the business
• Liaise with business users and data engineers as and when new data is required to investigate the source, create data definitions if needed, and ensure the new data can be sourced, ingested and integrated into the data lake/warehouse

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate holds a relevant third-level degree or certification, with a strong foundation in Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Engineering, backed by 3-4 years of experience in these roles. They possess deep knowledge and practical experience in Data Warehousing, particularly with Fact & Dimension models, and are highly skilled in T-SQL, SSIS, and SSAS. Proficiency in delivering BI reports and dashboards through Power BI is essential, and experience with Azure Data Factory is an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities, alongside excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with the Energy Utility Market would be a significant plus.
