The Team
Nasdaq’s Office of General Counsel within the Legal, Risk & Regulatory Group is focused on providing the highest quality legal advice and compliance program management to our company.

We are looking for an energetic and enterprising Legal Counsel to work independently and creatively to support compliance programs related to privacy, marketing and data governance. This includes addressing various initiatives supporting personal data usage in connection with service-offerings and internal processes. In this role, you will be part of a team located in the U.S. and Europe reporting to Nasdaq’s Principal Associate General Counsel for Global Ethics and Compliance under the Senior Deputy General Counsel and Global Chief Compliance Officer.


Your Role and Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of Nasdaq’s global privacy policies, supporting procedures and related templates including data processing addendum (DPA) and record of processing activities (ROPA)
  • Collaborate closely with the Information Security team on documenting new processing activities and ongoing process to maintain ROPA
  • Conduct onboarding and renewal privacy assessments of suppliers
  • Engage with customer success and development teams in responding to customer diligence requests regarding privacy program; develop and maintain customer-facing documents and disclosures regarding privacy program
  • Work with marketing and communications team to ensure compliance of websites with cookie and other data gathering requirements; advise on privacy aspects of marketing campaigns
  • Address privacy compliance aspects of internal data management initiatives. Advise Data Warehouse and Corporate Systems teams on processing of personal data in customer relationship management and marketing systems
  • Work with the Commercial Law team to address complex negotiations of privacy provisions in customer and supplier contracts
  • Support completion and maintenance of data protection impact assessments (DPIA)
  • Along with team members, monitor global AI, cyber and privacy laws and regulations; identify and implement compliance program updates to reflect regulatory change

Skills and requirements

To thrive in this role, besides having a genuine curiosity about the financial markets and sharing our view that an efficient regulation is a cornerstone of well-functioning markets, we believe that you have:

  • An LL.M. (Master of Laws)
  • 2+ years experience with a focus on privacy or related areas of the law
  • International experience, working e.g. for a European law firm, a European regulated entity, or a European financial supervisory authority
  • Ability to explain and advise your stakeholders on complex legal matters
  • Flexible and creative thinking to address business needs in a risk-based manner in the context of regulatory uncertainty or ambiguity
  • Ability to develop compliance solutions that can apply across global jurisdictions
  • Working proficiency in the English language, knowledge in additional Baltic or Nordic language is a merit
  • Strong collaboration skills to engage with business, technology, risk management and other functions to produce practical solutions in fast-paced environment

As a person you have the ability to develop trusted working relationships at all levels of the organization. You have experience being an adviser towards the organization and act proactively across different business units, functions and regional locations.

This is a full-time permanent position located in Vilnius. Nasdaq offers a hybrid workplace to find a balance between working from home and collaborating in the office, therefore it's required to come into the office at least 2 days per week.

Monthly base salary 2900-3200 EUR gross. The final offer will be based on your experience and skills.
