Data Governance Analyst
Regional Financial Crime Division – APAC Data Governance
MUFG Bank, Ltd

MUFG is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support the Global Financial Crimes Data Governance program. This role will be instrumental in operationalizing Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) initiatives, improving existing processes, and supporting the strategy and objectives set by the Global Financial Crime Division in Tokyo. The successful candidate will work within the Regional Data Governance team in Singapore to ensure data quality and governance standards are met across the Asia region.

Job Responsibilities:

Governance

  • Perform Data Governance BAU activities applicable for the APAC region.

  • Review and maintenance of DG Policies & Procedures and Manual.

  • Organize Regional and branch working groups, prepare material, and socialize. 

  • Coordinate and guide FCC teams to right project artifact and teams.

  • Document and track action items arising out of from regional and global forums.

  • Implement & execute tasks related to Data Governance controls such as Change Management, Periodic Assessments, Data Quality Monitoring, prepare, review KDE, DD, DS etc.

  • Assess and escalate any data quality incident identified through Data Quality Monitoring or other DG controls.

  • Understand in detail key components of a Data Quality Monitoring system (Data Dictionary, Key Data Elements, Data Lineage, Data Quality business rules.)

  • Provide support in creation of monthly and weekly reports/ status updates for regional and global forums on Data governance.

Data Quality Monitoring

  • Assist in the Operationalisation of Global DQM program in region. Data Profiling review and analysis

  • Execute DQM daily BAU tasks. Analyse weekly/monthly Data Quality (DQ) error reports and categorise DQ errors across different branches within Asia region.

  • Prepare monthly DQ error trend report for each of the branches within the region and regional stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with branches in a timely manner to seek responses on DQ errors.

  • Assist in the ad-hoc data analysis requests and report generation.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 1 year of working experience with exposure to banking application in terms of core banking data like Customer, Accounts and Transactions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills are crucial for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.

  • Experience on Data analytics tools like Alteryx and / or hands-on Python/R is a plus.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in data review and remediation in FI/Bank environment is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to work flexible hours from time to time due to time zone differences.

  • Effective Stakeholder management and good communication skills.

  • Strong ability to meet project milestones and manage time effectively.

  • Well organised and disciplined in maintaining operations documentation.

  • Willingness to take on ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time.
