Qualifications

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Supply Chain Data Integrity, Supply Chain, the Enterprise Data Analyst contributes to the management and understanding of the $800M+ product spend within Mass General Brigham. Work relates directly to the specific needs and strategic goals of the Supply Chain Data Analytics goals as aligned with the mission of the department and Mass General Brigham.

Displaying a high degree of initiative and independent motivation, this individual will garner an understanding of the existing reporting vehicles across the enterprise relative to product/case spend & utilization. The analyst will communicate key metrics and concepts to a variety of audience members and will serve as a department representative in various initiatives. The analyst serves as the interpreter for category spend across the enterprise to scale efforts across member institutions and maximize cost savings while reducing data capture redundancy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects, manipulates and analyzes system wide supply chain date to educate stakeholders on business impacts and make recommendations.

  • To execute initiatives, the Analyst must collaborate with Physicians, Information Systems (IS), Finance, Central Sterile Processing & Supply (CSPS), Nursing, Clinical Engineering and other stakeholders as necessary. Supply Chain Data Analytics is a growing and evolving collaborative department and this individual may be called upon to lend expertise to other ongoing work within the department. New ideas and approaches are encouraged and welcomed in all aspects of work.

  • Data lead for multidisciplinary workgroups focused on product/case information across the enterprise.

  • Become versed in the types of data that are available and necessary in various hospital datasets and create positive working relationships with data owners.

  • Communicates between clinical team and supply chain to develop strategies to standardize process and identifies savings opportunities.

  • Accountable for ensuring robust and accurate analyses in accordance with project deadlines, in correct format.

  • Continuously monitors benchmarks to ensure an accurate and up-to-date opportunity pipeline exists.

  • Responsible for ensuring all 3rd party reporting and benchmarking tools are being used appropriately and effectively.

  • Identifies and outlines areas for improvement to include cleanliness of data, opportunities for enhancement etc.

  • Analyzes supply utilization trends and identifies items driving costs upwards.

  • Oversees the tracking and measurement of post-implementation savings.

  • Works closely with Finance to ensure budgets are adjusted in accordance with realized contractual savings. Continuously reports on the savings projects that identified by the multifunctional team and tracks achieved savings.

  • Suggests necessary changes within areas of responsibility to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Coordinates with key departments such as Clinical Management to uphold and enhance system integrity.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, with a focus on perioperative data in a hospital setting required. 3+ years preferred.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software required (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau).

  • Experience in Healthcare Supply Chain Experience required.

  • Microsoft Office skills required.

  • Ability to manipulate and organize large data sets and interpret implications for the entire MGB system.  This requires prior experience with databases and an ability to merge files.

  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of departments, medical staff and individuals at all levels within the institution.

  • Must be skilled in supply chain processes and possess strong analytical/organizational skills.

Working Conditions

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
