Position: Staff Data Architect
Job Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Performs data warehousing, data architecture, data profiling, data integration, ETL, and database design tools and techniques. Reviews physical, conceptual, and logical data modeling (relational and dimensional); technological standards and best practices within modeling processes; Data Architecture standards, processes, and methodologies (for example, data manipulating processes, database technology generating processes); Cloud data warehouses, infrastructure, and services (for example, Redshift, Azure, BigQuery, Snowflake); Open-Source Big Data Technologies (for example, Hadoop, Kafka, NoSQL Databases). Diagnoses the rationality and reliability of conceptual, logical, and physical layers. Selects criteria used to support data processing operations, data flow, and the flow control system. Troubleshoots connections between information architecture, information systems, data architecture, and data delivery systems. Assists with data planning, sourcing, collection, and transformation. Tests the effectiveness of the database before release for business use. Designs data schemes, object models, and flow diagrams to structure, store, process and integrate data. Helps maintain the integrity and security of the database. Provides architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for data management. Develops proof-of-concept to validate new architectures and solutions. Examines and identifies database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming. Improves system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements. Conducts data modeling, including cloud data strategy, data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms; data modeling techniques and tools (dimensional design and scalability), Entity Relationship diagrams, Erwin; Query languages SQL / NoSQL; data flows through the different systems; tools supporting automated data loads; Artificial Intelligent - enabled metadata management tools and techniques. Assembles large, complex data across all data platforms (for example, relational, dimensional, NoSQL) and data tools. Builds complex logical and conceptual models and provides guidance to team on physical data models. Identifies and defines the appropriate techniques for exposing data to other systems. Reviews and provides guidance and inputs on all data modeling activities to team members. Creates and maintains critical data documentation and metadata that allows data to be understood and leveraged as a shared asset. Assists in defining data modeling standards and foundational best practices. Provides input to the architectural design to make best use of the available resources, given goals, and expected loads.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience in data engineering or related experience; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 4 years of experience in data engineering or related experience.
Skills required: Must have experience with: Architecting, designing, developing, and deploying data engineering solutions using GCP, Big data tools, Python, SQL, NoSQL, Airflow; Designing and developing frameworks modules using GCP, Big Query, Dataproc, Data Flow, Google Cloud Storage, Kafka, Kubernetes, Spark, and Airflow; Designing, developing and deploying pipelines using Azure, Databricks, and ADF; Optimizing resource allocation for application using Hive, Spark and different GCP services; Designing and developing event-driven architectures using Kafka, Cloud Pub/Sub for efficient data processing; Designing OLTP and OLAP systems using relational and dimensional modeling technique and optimization of queries on RDBMS, DBT, and Big Query; Incorporating TDD practices into the development workflow by utilizing testing frameworks and tools, such as JUnit or pytest; Developing secure applications, implementing security best practices throughout the development lifecycle; Automating the deployment process through CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins; Translating business requirements into technical designs and overseeing the full implementation process; and Working effectively in an on-shore/off-shore model, collaborating with development teams across continents and demonstrating strong leadership skills with analytical problem-solving abilities. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $202,093/year to $220,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
