Location:

This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy. 

Job Purpose:

The Lead Analyst - Data Scientist plays a crucial role in driving data-driven decision-making and optimizing marketing strategies to enhance business outcomes. This position is responsible for developing actionable analyses, marketing effectiveness measurements, advance statistical models, and reports to support Marketing, Digital Commerce, Merchandising, CX, and Product teams. This role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with partners to understand business challenges and make proactive recommendations.

Key responsibilities include creating media measurement frameworks, building audience samples, extracting and validating data from multiple sources, building dashboards, and developing statistical models. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in SQL, Power BI, Python, and analytical visualization while effectively communicating insights to partners to guide strategic decisions.

The successful candidate must also be adept at solving sophisticated, multi-layered problems that require advanced reasoning and the ability to analyze variable factors. They will identify root causes and recommend innovative solutions to guide decision-making, even in the absence of precedents, ensuring business challenges are met with data-driven insights and effective strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and complete robust A/B tests and hold-out experiments, ensuring proper sampling techniques, randomization, and meticulous pre/post statistical analysis.

  • Write, optimize, and maintain sophisticated SQL queries to retrieve, join, and analyze data from multiple databases and data sources based on business requirements.

  • Apply statistical techniques (e.g., hypothesis testing, causal inference models) to measure the incremental impact of marketing activities and refine experimental frameworks.

  • Build dynamic reports and dashboards using data modeling and analysis techniques to uncover insights that will guide strategic decisions and reveal optimization opportunities.

  • Lead the development and implementation of data-driven methodologies, such as customer segmentation, customer lifetime value (CLV), churn prediction, propensity models, media mix modeling (MMM), and multi-touch attribution (MTA), to inform marketing strategy.

  • Scope out Business Analytics needs, define data structures needed for reporting, locate data sources, and identify solutions for data automation. For more advanced ETL collaborate closely with our Data Engineering team.

  • Analyze cross-channel, customer, and transactional data to determine the value of Marketing efforts across all trackable customer touchpoints, both online and offline.

  • Conduct quantitative campaign performance analysis and make optimization recommendations.

  • Provide guidance to junior analysts through code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, ensuring best practices in programming, statistical analysis, and methodology development.

  • Work with marketing business partners and channel owners on campaign design to ensure the appropriate tracking mechanisms are in place to measure performance toward business outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience, with demonstrated impact on revenue growth.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational database management systems, including expertise in query performance tuning and optimization.

  • Expertise in Power BI (preferred) or other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) to create interactive dashboards.

  • Proficiency in Python for statistical modeling, data manipulation (e.g., Pandas, NumPy), and visualization (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).

  • Marketing Analytics experience preferred with working knowledge of Attribution, Segmentation, Activation, Media Mix Modeling, and Incrementality testing.

  • Experience building and deploying machine learning models, including hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering, and model interpretability.

  • Proficiency in Excel for data manipulation and advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas).

  • Prior experience with Google Analytics or other web analytics data preferred.

  • Experience working with data and performing analysis in the Microsoft Azure cloud preferred.

  • Prior experience with Databricks for data engineering, analytics, or machine learning preferred.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy and quality.

  • A proven track record of handling multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and agility to adapt.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$6,900.30 - $11,275.00

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
