What you’ll be doing
You'll be joining CIBC's Compliance Reporting & Analytics and play a key role in helping the Compliance & Global Regulatory Affairs (C&GRA) team harness the power of data to make informed decisions. The role will collaborate with members of the C&GRA team to understand their data needs, develop data management and governance strategies, and implement solutions to drive business objectives. The objective of the role is to perform data management for the Compliance team to produce consumable and measurable data that is timely, high quality, in a consumable format and meets all CIBC data governance requirements.

How You'll Succeed
Database Management – Configure and optimize databases while leading data migration projects to ensure seamless integration with existing systems and applications. Build and maintain data collection systems and templates, employing data analytics techniques and strategies that enhance efficiency and data quality. Leverage a variety of tools and technologies to develop scalable and effective solutions. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management and analytics.
Data Governance and Administration – Develop a data governance strategy and roadmap for C&GRA in accordance with the Enterprise Data & Records Management Office (EDRMO). Manage administration of the SQL database and data assets including access management.
Process Documentation – Create and document data processes and data-related policies.
Collaboration – Work with Technology partners to implement the back-end data architecture, tools & technology to support data access by partners.
Compliance – Manage data collected by Compliance as required by the enterprise data management requirements including data quality, metadata, and access management; Execute on the data management roadmap from setting up the data architecture, database, and data assets for consumption by Compliance partners.
Stakeholder Engagement – Help with any ad-hoc requests received from stakeholders by designing and implementing data and analytics solutions tailored to meet the needs of C&GRA.
Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in current data processes and methodologies; ensure the accuracy and reliability of processes/ data used in analytics.
Time Management – Manage and prioritize multiple projects and stakeholder requests.
Who You Are
You have a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering (or other related field) or equal work experience (3+ years) in a fast paced data and analytics environments.
You can demonstrate experience and knowledge in database management, including the setup and configuration of relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, MySQL, Oracle), database design and normalization, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and data security practices.
Experience and proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI) and programming languages (SQL, Python, R) is an asset.
You have knowledge of web-based tools (e.g. SharePoint) to create data sharing hubs comprised of source date and/or data visualization reports.
You can demonstrate excellent time management skills to prioritize business needs and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
You are collaborative and have the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and independently.
You understand data management, data warehousing, data mining, data movement tools, and data privacy.
