Position OverviewLeading, shaping and executing on America's Risk Management data governance and compliance. Accelerating inforce value, new business growth, data modernization, and operational excellence by fostering a risk management culture that includes growth, innovation and security. Collaborates across enterprise, regional and local stakeholders to develop and implement risk strategy, policies, standards and procedures across data, contract, product, AI and model management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the America’s data governance and compliance program to align with business goals and objective and enterprise expectations by working closely with business, IT and risk management leaders to scope, establish, communicate and execute roadmaps.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business units and IT to define and execute policies and standards for data management, data quality, metadata, data security and privacy.
- Create policies and ensure compliance related to contractual, regulatory and RGA ethical requirements.
- Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards through audits and metrics reporting.
- Develop risk management frameworks related to AI and model management.
- Drive change management in order to facilitate appropriate adoption.
- Ensure appropriate use and management of 3rd party data and derivative models in collaboration with those purchasing / developing data products.
- Drive regional consistency in data governance and compliance across Americas region and globally.
- Accountable for America’s comprehensive data risk management framework, aligning with global, ERM policy, standards, processes and reporting requirements.
- Champions data risk management culture and change management and continuous improvement efforts to systematically improve data risk management performance. Ensures effective knowledge management of key ERM data and model processes, roles, and controls through the use of detailed documentation, checklists, templates, etc. to mitigate the risk of losing knowledge or control effectiveness due to role transitions or turnover.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field required
- Professional accreditation or advanced degree in insurance or finance related field required or
- 15+ Years of experience in life re(insurance) required
- Multi-disciplinary background possessing a combination of skills in disciplines like finance, data science, pricing, valuation, experience analysis, in-force management, asset-liablity management, risk management, merger and acquisitions and/or management reporting, systems and operational processes required
- 5+ Years experience leading teams without direct reporting lines required
- 5+ Years reinsurance experience preferred
- 5+ Years financial reporting experience preferred
- 5+ Years pricing experience preferred
- Management experience in a global and/or matrix organization preferred
- Experience working in virtual and/or remote team environments preferred
- Exposure to multiple regulatory, accounting and capital regimes preferred
- Exceptional ability to lead and work well within and across teams with members spread across multiple geographies, particularly gaining cooperation from those members outside the direct chain of command, across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines - Expert Proficiency required
- A driver for change, ensuring understanding, participation, and ownership - Advanced Proficiency required
- Able to influence business discussions and decisions to satisfactory results required
- Expertise in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions, creatively addressing risk concerns, enabling effective risk-reward decision making - Expert Proficiency required

- Expert knowledge of US life products, (re)insurance concepts/methods, risks, pricing, valuation and financial reporting, resources and operational processes - Expert Proficiency required
- Highly advanced knowledge of treaty drafting and administration procedures, risk management and statistical analysis - Advanced Proficiency required
- Expert ability to challenge and enhance analytical capabilities - Expert Proficiency required
- Expert ability to analyze and improve business processes - Expert Proficiency required
- Strong oral and written (English) communication and presentation skills - Expert Proficiency required
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions that lead to results, demonstrate leadership courage, and develop/maintain strong working relationships. - Advanced Proficiency required
- Willingness to travel as required required
- CERA, CFA or other financial risk management accreditation Preferred
- FSA (or equivalent) accreditation Preferred

Compensation Range:
$143,245.00 - $213,390.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
