The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Role Purpose
This candidate should have experience with management/manipulation of large data sets and familiarity with business transformation and developing BI reporting.
The analytical work will support a range of projects from technical problems in manufacturing. The work will have some focus on process data anomaly detection and dashboarding to assist plant and division leaders. It is expected that this person will, on occasion, create predictive tools that will enable both business and technical decisions. The work will involve devising graphical presentation methods to explain results to others.

Experiences/Education - Required
- Pursuing a degree in a data science or statistical field. Preference will be given to graduate students in a related data science field.
- Data analysis experience using any mix of software including, but not limited to: Python, R, PowerBI, SQL
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Experiences/Education - Desired
- Familiar with open-source tools for data analytics such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch
- Familiar with Databases
- Familiarity with SQL and PowerBI

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
