The Finance Data and Reporting (FDR) team within the Studios Business Group (SBG) is focused on streamlining the relevant data and reporting infrastructure to provide speedy and easy access to the relevant data and metrics needed for delivering strategic insights and recommendations, and for facilitating informed business decisions to achieve our financial objectives.

The FDR team is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join the FDR team. The BI Developer will focus on supporting the SBG Finance team by gathering and analyzing operational data trends, visualizing metrics, and monitoring business performance with reports and dashboards. They will play a critical role in shaping the reporting and analytics strategy by designing, developing, and optimizing BI solutions using tools such as Tableau or Domo to present complex data and deliver actionable insights that support financial decision-making and strategic planning. This role requires a deep understanding of financial data, business processes, advanced BI tools, SQL and Excel along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the business dynamic.

Work you’ll be doing

As a BI Developer in the FDR team, you will:

  • Develop and Enhance Financial BI Solutions: Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards, financial reports, and visually appealing data visualizations to support key financial and operational metrics
  • Financial Data Analysis: Gain deep understanding of our data to analyze and transform financial data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights. Work closely with finance teams to understand reporting requirements, such as revenue, expenses, P&L, actuals and forecasts. Analyze complex datasets to support existing operational metrics and identify new metrics or opportunities for efficiencies. Perform ad-hoc analysis and prepare business recommendations to management supported by data
  • Advanced Data Modeling: Design and maintain advanced data models for financial reporting and analysis, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and efficiency using tools like Alteryx, Domo, and Tableau Prep. Optimize performance of BI solutions
  • ETL and Data Integration: Design and implement robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate and automate data pipelines from various financial systems, databases, and sources including Snowflake database, Excel files, IBM PAX, COGNOS, etc. Work with other analysts to clean data and support ETL/ELT processes
  • SQL Querying: Write complex SQL queries to manipulate and prepare data for reporting and analysis. Optimize SQL queries to ensure optimal report/dashboard performance 
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with other analysts and business stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements for new reports/dashboards, or add new features to existing ones
  • Data Governance and Compliance: Ensure consistency, accuracy, and security of financial data. Adhere to data governance and compliance standards. Work closely with data engineers, analysts, finance and business leaders to build, refine and/or maintain centralized processes and data pipelines by which the business reports, measures and runs the business 
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and fine-tune the performance of queries, data pipelines, reports and dashboards, ensuring that they meet business requirements and run efficiently across large financial datasets
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for BI reports, dashboards, and data models. Provide training to finance teams on using BI tools and interpreting financial reports
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest BI and financial analytics technologies and methodologies to ensure the Finance team is leveraging cutting-edge tools to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
  • Work on ad hoc data / reporting / analytics requests and perform other role-related duties as assigned

Qualifications you have

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus
  • Experience: 4+ years of real-world experience in business intelligence developing, deploying, and supporting data visualizations and dashboards / reports with a strong background in financial analysis. 4+ years of experience working with SQL in data manipulation and reporting
  • Technical Skills:
    • Skilled (4+ Years) in Tableau, Domo, Power BI, or similar BI platforms, with a deep understanding of financial reporting requirements
    • Expert user of SQL (4+ Years) for querying, transforming and performing data analysis
    • Experience (2+ Years) with pulling data from financial reporting and planning systems such as SAP S4, SAW BW, COGNOS, IBM PAX, SAP BW, Adaptive or equivalent
    • Experience (4+ Years) with designing, building, and maintaining data ETL processes and data integration from multiple financial systems (ERP, CRM, etc.) using Alteryx, Tableau Prep, Domo or other tools. Advanced knowledge of ETL best practices
    • Experience in troubleshooting data integrity issues and creating frameworks to avoid/catch them
    • Familiarity with financial databases, including accounting, transactional, and general ledger systems, and strong understanding of financial concepts such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
    • Good and demonstrated understanding of data warehousing and database design
    • Understanding of basic statistical concepts like correlation and standard deviation to provide additional deep-dive information in reporting solutions
    • Experience with performing requirements analysis
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and generate meaningful insights. Strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills demonstrated by attention to detail, and ability to structure a problem and analyze alternative solutions
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service. Ability to present complex financial data to non-technical stakeholders in an understandable manner. Effectively collaborate across departments/teams
  • Documentation Ability: Process-oriented with great documentation skills
  • Initiative: Self-starter with ability to take things to the next level. Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines as required
  • Ways of working: Track record of showcasing customer service mindset. Comfortable working in a global matrix-based team with a varied set of customer groups. Proven ability to take directions and ensure high quality deliverables
  • Learning Ability: Proven ability to learn new tools/environments

Other skills that may be beneficial to have:

  • An MBA or a graduate-level degree in Computer Science, Finance, Statistics or Data Analytics
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics or machine learning concepts, especially in a financial context
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and advanced data analysis
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards, including SOX, IFRS, and GAAP
  • Experience with finance data and reporting systems such as SAP, COGNOS, etc
  • Experience with cloud-based BI solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • CPA, CFA, or other finance certifications

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.$110,200—$165,400 USD
