Overview and Summary:

Paramount Data Technology Solutions (DTS) team plays a crucial role in Paramount`s global engineering organization. Through our projects we make sure that millions of users worldwide can enjoy Paramount content through web, mobile, and TV applications and help with our vision of entertaining the planet!

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to play a meaningful role in the design, development, and evolution of our data landscape. This individual will be a key contributor to the evolution of our data architecture, bridging the gap between engineering and business needs.

This collaborative role requires strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud technologies, and a dedication to working optimally within a multi-functional team. This role will be responsible for both low level and high-level architecture design tasks and documentation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Define, document, and maintain the overall architecture of Paramount's data ecosystem, including data models, data flows, and data governance policies.
  • Collaborate closely with partners across the organization to ensure alignment on architecture decisions.
  • Develop and maintain logical data models that accurately represent the company's data assets. Work closely with data analysts and scientists to understand their data needs.
  • Design and implement data governance frameworks and standards. Partner with IT and legal teams to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of the current data architecture, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive documentation for all data assets and processes. Ensure documentation is accessible and understandable to a broad audience.
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes/frameworks to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse. Work with data engineers and other teams to define the foundational frameworks.
  • Optimize the performance of data pipelines and infrastructure in collaboration with DevOps teams.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technologies and tools. Share your expertise with the team to inform technology decisions.
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud migration strategies, particularly focusing on. Work with cloud architects and infrastructure teams to develop a comprehensive migration plan.
  • Lead and participate in the migration of data and applications from one cloud environment to another. Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure a smooth and efficient migration.
  • Explore and implement innovative technologies and solutions to improve the capabilities of our data platform. Share knowledge and insights with the team to promote innovation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of professional experience as a Data Professional, with at least 3 years in an enterprise data architect role.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP and including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, along with experience migrating between cloud platforms.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines using tools such as Apache Airflow, Google Big Query, Python, Kubernetes. Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Scala).
  • Experience with data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, snowflake schema).
  • Strong Database fundamentals and enterprise data modeling experience is required.
  • Superb communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with data governance and compliance regulations.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience with evaluating and migration of data clouds between different clouds.
  • Ability to take and evaluate new and emerging technologies to be used in an enterprise setting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $140,000.00 - 160,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
