Summary

The Data Scientist will apply statistical theory and methods to collect and analyze data, make predictions, and recommend actions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing statistical methods to solve specific business needs
  • Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
  • Responsible for developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters to improve upon existing methodologies
  • Ensure that models are well developed, tested, trained, and implemented
  • Ensure that the integrity and dependability of data for analytical purposes are processed, cleansed, and verified
  • Responsible for data extraction, to include the construction and optimization of classifiers utilizing machine-learning methods
  • Responsible for the accurate exploration of internally and externally sourced data to search for unseen insights and correlation
  • Strongly encourages the adoption of data science and analytics across the organization

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in data science or a related field is required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and latest statistical, visualization, and extraction methods
  • Thorough understanding of quantitative modeling and statistical analyses as well as experience building complex data visualizations for business stakeholders using a variety of visualization tools
  • Proven track record of successfully working with difficult statistical/predictive models, performing analysis on complex problems, translating the needs of the business, and developing or enhancing solutions
  • Experience developing standards and design patterns for development including implementing cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Ability to work collaboratively cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders alike
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that include the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and express technical matters in cogent layman’s terms
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with statistical software (Python, R, SAS)
  • Expert in MS Office Suite
