This Full-Time Research Assistant 1 position is based in Prof. Odile Liboiron-Ladouceur's research lab in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with machine learning training and neural network experience and be fluent with programming in Python. The candidate will contribute to bringing the image-based deep learning models to the next level by evaluating, calibrating and reducing the uncertainties associated with its predictions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experts in photonics and machine learning in a well-established interdisciplinary and collaborative environment. The outcomes of this work are expected to have immediate academic and industrial impact. Aptitude and interest in writing academic articles is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Develop and train machine learning lab models for predicting and correcting nanofabrication errors in photonic integrated circuits.

·         Preprocess and analyze data, selecting appropriate models, and tuning hyperparameters.

·         Develop software tools for data visualization, analysis, and documentation using Python, TensorFlow, and Git.

Qualifications

·         Proficiency in Python programming language

·         Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

·         Experience with software development tools such as Git

·         Familiarity with machine learning methods and techniques for data analysis

·         Knowledge of image processing techniques

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·         Bachelor degree in Software Engineering
